Q:

I’ve encountered this problem occasionally in the past, but now it’s happening regularly both in Black Citadel and Plains of Ashford. Massive graphical stutter lowering the FPS <5.

Note I’m on a 4GHz 12GB Win7 GTX480 system. Game runs flawlessly on highest settings except when this problem comes up; almost always on “porting” between the zones. A restart of the game fixes the issue, but I’m finding myself restarting the game every 15-30 mins. Never had to do that before.

Deleted. Haven’t seen the stutter since, but haven’t been back to Black Citadel. Will let you know if the issue returns. BTW what sort of data is in local.dat?

Nope. Just patched and the game goes into “stagger mode” when I enter the central Black citadel part. Definitely some bug; note it bogs down my entire OS; even typing this in another window is lagged massively. Note my CPU usage is almost nothing, so it’s probably some VM/hardware/interrupt related issue.

I’d say Windows is either moving everything to the pagefile (won’t notice anything unusual with 12GB if you disable it), or the memory’s bottlenecking it (PCI-e bandwidth, RAM bandwidth). I’m assuming that’s 12GB in a 6×2 config, otherwise get rid of the smaller sticks.

OK with the latest patch it ALWAYS happens when I enter the Citadel Stockade.

And I don’t use a Windows Page File. Given restarting solves the issue, it’s definitely a problem with GW2 and the caching.
