Guild Wars 2

Pretty much the title. I know that at launch, it would let you have any number of characters, but it would only actually care about the first 8 or so. How many is the current max characters used?

Researching it, I was unable to find a direct answer. But I did find an indirect one.

if you own both a gw1 and a gw2 account and if the two accounts are tied together they share the same gw2 email and password, I’m going to say that Guild Wars 2 has a max of 100 characters also, since it it would seem logical that it has to fit within the Guild Wars 1 limitations.

Of course it could be less than 100. The one thread I saw with Gaile responding to this question, she never came back with an answer.

Anything over 16 is ridiculous overkill and not needed. Nobody could ever guess a 16 character password (just lower cases would take a modern computer over a century to go thru all combinations). If a hacker gets you 128 character password from another DB they CAN type it in (tho I would say it’s highly likely their hacking tools would choke or they would just avoid the hassle by skipping it, so there may be some valid security side effects).

The question is valid however (but would Anet WANT everyone to know this?)

My password is 35 characters long, so the max is at least that much.

my new one is 30+ and yes 100 sounds about right
