Q:

I’ve a newer Mac, with OS 10.9.1. After perusing the forums, I’m leery about buying this game. Would you do it all again, knowing what you know? Am I setting myself up to invent new profanity? You all have been a patient bunch!

The Mac client works 99% fine. A recent user fix managed to deal with other problems related to Mavericks. Support for the Mac client is almost non-existent and Anet refuses to be honest as to the state of the Mac client. They stop in time to time and say, “Hey we are here for you.” when it has to do with spending real money for gems then disappear for weeks. Look at the date of the last Anet post here. Look over several pages for posts from Anet….

I would have still bought the game but knowing what I know now I would not have spent several hundred dollars in gems like I did before I figured out that Mac customers are treated so poorly. The only problems I have ever seen Anet address related to the Mac client were bugs that didn’t allow people to buy gems with real money.

Do I enjoy playing GW2 on Mac? Yes. Do I feel that they tossed together a port via Transgaming as a cash grab to attract Mac customers then leave them hanging? Yes.

Yes I would recommend it. It is a great game. I am still enthusiastic over it almost 12 months into playing and I still shudder when I think of the shortcomings of the game I played before this – and thought I was enjoying it

My experience with the game on the Mac is a mostly positive one. It is disappointing that Anet ignore us for the most part but I am still grateful that we can play it on the Mac and they throw in a pc version for free.

Thanks for your replies! I can sure appreciate those frustrations. The game looks gorgeous, and I’m going for it. It’s good to see players helping each other in this forum, too. Cheers!
