Crash nowhere else in the game including giant zergs in WvW. Have run repair, have deleted dat file. 64 bit OS, 16 gigs, memory is not come close to being maxed out. No background processes hogging ram.

Is this client just incapable of running this event on a map with as many players there as possible at truly max settings? If so what settings do people run to avoid crashing here? Should I set character visible limit to low just for the event? Should I just turn everything to low?

I took off hi res character textures and now only crash about half the time. Everything else is maxed out with character limit on high. Is this simply too high a setting?

Also if the client simply can’t support the higher settings can Anet introduce something where you are put on to the same megaserver if you crash/lose connection for a few minutes? It is pretty ridiculous to wait a hour or so for the event, crash during the event and be unable to finish the event. It is even worse when you happen to have chosen a really low population server and the only way the event is done is on a server you are transferred to. When you log back in you are put back in the empty server.

I realize this is a 32 bit client and there are limits what you can do and maybe you were too ambitious with graphics settings, culling for events with this many people and effects there, and didn’t expect people to be able to run maxed out, but Anet really should address this.

Personally for the Bloodtide wurm and Teq I just drop my settings back to “best performance” and I haven’t crashed since. Everything else in the game (including massive wvw zergs) I put my settings back to Autodetect (max that my computer will run).

I can’t confirm if it’s the same thing happening to you, but I think people found another chat code that instantly crashes people. This time it crashes you before you have the chance to see it and you don’t need to hover your mouse over it.

Yeah I did the same and didn’t crash. I am sure there is a fine line you can push with characters on screen, hi textures etc, but I really don’t feel like crashing/not crashing 100 times to find out. Maybe Anet can do that with their troubleshooting team and post a sticky for the event.

Basically people with high end computers that can run the game at a decent frame rate fine, maxed out, supersampled and even downsampled, even in large zergs crash here.

64 bit OS doesn’t matter (though I imagine people with 32 bit OS’s run into crashing much more often). Simply the client can’t handle max settings in MEGA events no matter what amount of ram/computing power you throw at it.

For those having issues it is not your PC. Simply turn down settings. If you find that fine line? Go ahead and post it. Would be nice it if was just set character limit to low, cus at least the game wouldn’t look like Nintendo 64 for that event. Character high textures requires a Map change to do and that really isn’t viable to turn off when you just head there and wait a hour or two just to do the event.
