Does anyone have *personal experience playing GW2 on a laptop via mobile or satellite networks? Any recommendations?
Believe it or not the entirety of my GW2 experience has been on my employer-issued Dell Latitude E5420 with updated drivers for the HD3000 graphics. I have to run it in the low graphics setting obviously but; even though I almost exclusively play via a mobile broadband or satellite internet connection while in the field, I’ve only experienced lag on a small handful of occasions even when doing the Maw with 60+ other PC’s.
However I want to upgrade and get my own laptop, one that has very nice capabilities in regard to graphics and performance as I often have multiple browser windows open while I play as well.
Of course I’m tempted to break down and buy my first Alienware laptop (father of three lol) I would like to get similar performance for less.
Any suggestions?

Have a look at Origin PC. I play on an EON15-S Pro reasonably well.

Lenovo Y580 is definitely a great buy. I’m personally using one myself, and have had no issues, playing on mostly high settings for PVE, dropping to 40 FPS or so at high-pop events. I don’t do WVW much so I can’t tell you about any performance there. For mobile gaming, I’m not sure how you would take this, but the power brick is quite large, and the laptop itself is a little heavy and thick., but it’s definitely manageable.

The Y400 and Y500 are also definitely worth checking out too if you want a little cheaper.

OP.

Are u in the US or EU ? (or other?)

Which ever ur in u can likely find much betetr and cheaper laptops than Alienware, they tend to be rather overpriced for what they have in them when comapred to other makes like MSI, Asus, Clevo/Sagre, Lenovo, Razer, etc.

A good US site i tend to look at is:

And for herei n the UK:

Though u can also also go the the individual brands websites for the respective country and go through them directly. Most allow some customization options.
