When I went to the PC store and asked them for a build that would get me a minimum of 60FPS, while every setting is on ultra. But atm everything is on high and I only get 30 fps at Megadestroyer world boss. I asked in chat why my fps was so low for my build, and people were all confused as well. Some guy was running with a build a lot less powerful than mine but was getting 50-60 fps.

My Processor is the I core 7, 6th generation and my GPU is the GTX 970, and my ram 16GB.
So what’s the deal? Is there some in game setting I didn’t click or should turn off?

but then how does a worse build manage to get higher fps than mine? The guy at my store said that this build would easily get 60 fps with everything on Ultra. I spent over 2k on this build, and I’m getting worse fps than a cheap build.

You simply can’t believe everything that people said. The FPS in GW2 differs greatly
depending on where you are .. i can get up to 170 staring at a wall in a lonly cave
but at Karka Queen it gets down to below 20 with my I5 2500k.

However in normal open World Maps it mostly 60+

You’re running an I5 2nd gen, but mine is an I7 6th gen, shouldn’t that be a huge difference not just a mere 10 fps difference between you and me? There has to be something else that is up…

Gw2 is very cpu intensive, specially in world boss fights. That guy who said he was running at 50-60fps was playing at minimal for sure. There’s no pc in this earth that has the enough raw performance to play this game in such a heavy situation at ultra at such high framerate.

Your framerate seems normal, but there’s a few things you can do to improve it:
- Overclock the cpu and RAM if you can.
- Make sure the gpu is running at pcie x16.
- Also make sure the FLCK frequency is running at 1000MHz. At first, Skylake motherboards put it at 800MHz and intel rates desktop skylake for 1GHz. It has been proved it helps a little bit with dgpu performance.
- Disable Reflections and Shadows, and put Character limit to Medium. These are the 3 most taxing settings and the graphic quality improvement is minimal or inexistent.

In 5 or 10 years, that challenge might be beat.

I only get around low 20s on world bosses with a 4980HQ, TWO 980m’s and 24GB DDR3 (3k lappy). All settings are maxed.
