My build
A great site for information is http://www.tomshardware.com, particularly articles like this one – http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/System-Builder-Marathon-August-2012-GTX-670-Kepler,3280.html
You might find G.Skill RAM cheaper than corsair. other than that ..dont forget to get a CPU cooler.
That CPU at stock settings should run GW2 fine, you will probably find your GPU bottlenecking before you need to OC the CPU. Which you would have to do if you upgraded your GPU to a modern one.

Well as you can see from my sig, you are getting pretty much the same parts that I got in the PC I recently built and the performance I was getting last night was something like this:
– Open world – 60-100fps
– Dungeon – 50-70fps
– Lion Arch – 50-60fps
– WvW – 40-60fps
Everything was set to max except the shadows, post processing & reflections and it ran pretty smoothly, with no overclocking done to it so far. So you should do well with your choices so far.
Your 500W PSU is okay for now but once you get a new graphics card it is best that you just get a new 650-850W PSU, otherwise playing games will put a strain on your PSU when it’s on full load.

Try to budgest for an SSD as your primary system drive. $200 gets you 240 GB now, or better. I would get at least 240 GB. That would let you put some games on the system drive if needed for performance.
I got a WD cavier black 1 TB drive as my auxillary drive for games and data. Pretty cheap these days.
Don’t think Blu-ray playing drive is needed for most people, but they are pretty cheap, so why not?
Make sure you get some sort of wi-fi on the mobo or with an internal board. I am not happy with USB based wi-fi solutions.
RAM is cheap, so I got 16 GB for my system. While I don’t think it’s needed now, you never know. But I understand saving a few bucks.
You can save some time by anticipating any additional needs ahead of time, such as more cooling fans. I ended up getting a bay mounted fan controller as I ran out of of fan headers on the mobo. So thinking about stuff like that before you order can be helpful if getting a new case.
I am no PSU expert. There are sites that tell you what you will need for various configurations, and you might want to use those. High end video cards will need a fair amount of power so ensure you have enough…better too much IMO. And make sure the PSU you buy supports and video care you will buy (such as having enough auxillary 12 volt PCI express connectors.)
My board is an ASUS P8Z77 which got good reviews, but Gigabyte is a well respected brand as well. I have certainly had their mobos in my system.
Keep in mind michaeljhuman that the OP seems to be on a fairly strict budget and a lot of what you mentioned are just extras that the OP really doesn’t even need to consider, until after sorting out the mobo, CPU, RAM & graphics card.

- Lion Arch – 50-60fps
– WvW – 40-60fps
40 fps minimum in WvW…? In bigger fights too?
Sorry but I can’t believe this.
Of course they were all suggestions; sorry if that was not clear.
I feel an SSD drive is worth attempting to get into any current build due to it’s very high performance gains. In fact, I can think of few pieces of hardware that give you as nice of an improvement in overall user experience.
But I understand having a budget.
Aye a SSD is somthing that is nice to have for the load times and the reduction of stuttering due to access times. But when on a budget and for general performance interms of fps..then the usualy suspects should be upgraded first ..for mmo’s and GW2 specificaly ..thats CPU then GPU.
