so at the moment, I’m tryin to get gold together to help with a legendary (mystic toilet) and I have quite a few skins stored away that I want to sell later when price goes up….

Anyway, yesterday I sent a friend 2 Lovestruck Staff skins for 200g, saving me trading post fees and also saving him 40g all up for the set, within an hour of receiving the gold from him the exact amount he had sent through magically vanished…

Are we not allowed to sell things via mail to friends or trade among eachother without the trading post?

I’m curious why it was taken and I want to know if I still pay back a friend for Sunrise (owe 1100g) will that gold be taken off him too?

Will the legendary a friend is making for us to sell, will the gold he sends through to me be taken too?

We are introducing a change to gold transfers as part of an effort to address fraud and account theft. Beginning on March 31, 2015, there will be a limit on how much gold a single player can receive through in-game mail and/or the Guild Vault each week. This limit, which is based on historical data, should not affect the normal transfer of gold between players. It is designed to prevent rapid and abusive transfers of gold that may be part of account takeovers, fraud, and RMT (gold selling).

Full details about the system:

1. Each account will have a limit on how much gold can be moved from its mail in-box and Guild Vault into its wallet each week.
2. If you receive more gold through in-game mail than you can accept in a week, the gold will remain attached to the mail in your in-box and can be retrieved up to the limit the following week or in subsequent weeks.
3. For the purposes of this limit, a week begins at 12:01 AM UTC each Sunday (5:01 PM PDT/4:01 PM PST Saturday).
4. Gold received from the Trading Post is not subject to this limit.
5. The maximum amount of gold that can be sent via a single in-game mail will be 500 gold.
6. The maximum total amount of gold that an individual player account can accept in a week will be 500 gold.
7. We will monitor this system and may make changes to the limits if we find that changes are necessary.

If your friend is sending 1,500g. Don’t expect them to arrive any time soon. Same goes for the 1,100g you owe.

Then again, Anet has precise data about how long your 2 accounts have been friends, where the gold he had came from, where the 2 Lovestruck Staff skins you had came from, etc.

Basically they know everything there is to know about your 2 accounts. Stricktly speaking, your gold should not have vanished. If the gold was removed, there might have been something fishy going on. That paired with the fact that trading via mail is generally not supported you might want to write a ticket to support.

I just wouldn’t get my hopes up.

ps. The excuse of having traded with a “friend” is one that comes up very often when dealing with rmt. As I said, Anet have all the data. If this really was the case, be happy you still have your account.

Yeah you are not exactly forbidden from player to player trading, its strongly discouraged, multiple times by multiple devs. You can submit a ticket on the matter, but it is unlikely they will do anything about it. If p2p trades go bad, their policy is not to return gold or items.

This actually makes a lot of sense, my mail would look extremely suspicious due to paying a friend for sunrise, while still sending MATS/gold to another friend to finish our legendary to sell off (would be the 3rd Legendary I’ve sold)…

Yes, clearly their attempts to stop suspicious activity were meant to specifically inconvenience you. Unfortunately, sometimes innocent people might get caught in the net used to stop RMT; it’s not meant as a personal slight against you.

You should contact CS. As long as everything checks out the way you’ve described it, you’ll probably get your gold refunded.

There’s quite a few of us helping eachother out by sending eachother various things that we need, EG: I’ll send through a stack of mats + all the rare/exotic shields to a friend tryin to make legendary shield, and he would send me either gold back or a pile of rare/exo daggers to try myself….

To me I don’t see anything wrong with this, but the outcome has proven otherwise

Your “friend” was a hacked account being operated by RMT, commited fraud, and is now locked because of it.

This is why the gold got removed.

His “claims” were made over 24 hours ago and no response to the Anet post….looks like he was quite aware of what his “friend” was actually doing.

What exactly do those that post their (fabricated) sad tales here think they will gain by doing so?
