Hello my husband can’t post on here so I have to for him. His issue with his key has still not been resolved… He bought the game around Aug 31 never been able to play at all cause the cd that came in the box is fail. He has already been back and forth with the support team but it seems they have disabled his support account cause he can no longer log into that. I’m so tired of this issue and I know he is too. I practically have to share my account with him which is causing issues between us and the fact that we bought it to play TOGETHER and we can’t doesn’t help anything at all. He bought his game from Target I bought my copy from Walmart a couple days after his incident cause I didn’t trust Target since his key was fail. He has already sent yall a pic of the cd key on the back of the booklet that came in the box this was 5 days ago still nothing we need answers plz help us!

Have you tried returning the product to target? Afaik you have atleast 30days to return non-working cd/serials.

Yes we have tried to take it back but they wont take it back cause it is opened software. We explained to them that the key isn’t working but there isn’t any valid proof to them that it is not working ya know? They told us to contact the people who made the game cause Target can’t give a new key….

That’s insane then? Afaik my gamestop store would let me return gw2 if it’s not working (30days + original receipt). Isn’t also a bad business practice? They should change the cd and serial and they should be the one handling the issue about the serial not working since you’re a customer who bought a product that doesn’t work.
You can then note to self never buy from Target again. As for the solution try to PM the mods/admin here with your ticket number see if that helps since forum is kinda swamped with game issue.

If you still have your receipt, are telling the truth about the serial code and the support team have not resolved your issue this is theft and a matter for consumer affairs.
I don’t know which country you’re from (this might not help if you’re outside the US) but if you don’t receive a resolution within a reasonable period (I would say that’s passed) you should contact your consumer watchdog, ombudsmen of office for consumer affairs and make a claim.
Arena Net will receive a hearty fine if they get a phone call from the ombudsman.

We do have the receipt we are in the U.S. as well. Target won’t take it back even tho I had the receipt with the box which had the discs and the booklet with everything. The lady at the returns desk said “I’m sorry I cannot take this back it has been opened” she then explained to us that it would be too easy to scam them by returning a game after using the cd key and saying it didn’t work and getting your money back. This is why most retailers will absolutely not take back opened software and it did say on receipt that software must be unopened in order for a an exchange or refund. I had this happen to me before back when Command and Conquer Red alert 3 came out. The cd key was wrong I called EA they sent me a new key to my email problem solved 5 mins I sent them the pic as well didn’t take long at all like I said 5 mins… why can’t it be so easy here.

Given the timeframes usually involved in getting consumer affairs (or similar) to sort this kind of thing out, why don’t you simply buy another key to use in the meantime? That way you can both play the game while you’re waiting for a resolution. When you get your refund on the original…..I dunno….buy some gems or something

I could go and buy another key Mr Bonk but we would like to not have to spend another 60 bucks on a third copy. Then when we get our new key if we ever get one then we would have 3 copies of the game and we only need 2 would be pointless ya know. I absolutely can’t get a refund I’m not asking for one anymore I’m tired of messing with Target they done told me no all I’m asking for now is for Arena Net to just check the email that my husband sent in with the picture of the cd key check it and see for themselves that it isn’t working and just send us a working key that’s all. I know they can do it if EA could do it for me they can too.

Do we even have consumer protection in the usa? I always put expensive items on a credit card. If the store or the manufacturer won’t fix it then just do a charge-back and that will get you a refund. Keep all your materials as you’ll probably need them and buy another if you want.

hey cherry, if you husband sent in an email to anet support they prolly sent him a ticket number, post the ticket number here so GaileGray can get the ticket on the list. If he submited it on aug31st your definatly past the 5day window and should be on the list.

Yeah he had the ticket number and everything but when he went to update his ticket he could not access the support account for some reason. We think it was disabled or something so he went ahead and made a new email and a new support account started a new ticket with support. He submitted his image of the key with this new ticket so hopefully this will be the final step to getting this fixed we are doing our best to stay patient. BTW I’m loving this game lots I haven’t had this much fun since Age of Conan first came out haha yes I played that game for a long time. This game is super awesome too can’t wait for my hubby to get his stuff fixed so we can play together and enjoy this awesome game together.

If you want to get him up quicker, find the ticket number of the original ticket. even though the account is locked out or not working. They only look at tickets 5 days or older immediately on t he forums. It will save you a lot of time if you can locate the original ticket number.

We have the old ticket number but we don’t want any confusion since he has submitted a new ticket with a new email address. Wish me luck hope this get resolved asap meaning sometime today lol jk, but really really soon.

trust me you will not cause confusion, post the old ticket number here cherry. Gaile will actually ask for the old ticket number not the new one. They always want the oldest ticket number. And trust me it will save you plenty of time.

I’m just curious are we the only people who have encountered this problem the the cd key just bein invalid? It just kind of weird to me that a brand new game out of the box would have an invalid key in it maybe one that says already in use but an invalid one?
