Guild Wars 2

So here is the way I look at it. Yesterday I was playing the game, and I came across a player named Ratchet The Tinker (My character’s name is Ratchet N Spank). I decided to tease him a little, as a joke of course, that I had my name before he made his. Well I’m guessing (only guessing…) that he took this to heart and reported my name, and had a few friends do it as well. Today I log in, and when I try logging in with my character, it says I have to rename my character? I don’t think it’s fair. It’s not a bad name in any way. I remember in GW1 I had to rename my characters on specific RP realms, but there is no such thing in GW2, so again, I don’t see why I have to change my name. A reply with an answer from staff would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the double post but I tried to rename it the same name, and it says “Ratchet N Spank” contains words or partial words that are not permitted. Why not? It has nothing offensive.

Doesn’t give him a reason to abuse the “report player’s name”.

“Spank” is considered bad. You got your answer already.
Name change is not done automatically. Some human agent checked and decided. Change the name and you are back in.

Don’t do it and you might stay out or receive a ban for some time. I think it is not worth the trouble,

They told you so. They are the Boss in this area of expertise. Don’t argue with them.

If you are not satisfied, ask for review via ticket. They will not discuss it in the forum.

The word spank can be easily used in an inappropriate way. ArenaNet actually enforce their naming rules so I am not at all surprised you had to change it. Try harder to name your characters within the confines of the naming policy in the future please.

It CAN be used in an inappropriate way. I never used it in an innapropriate way so I STILL don’t see what’s wrong. Again, I knew players would try to act like they know everything and try to get some goody-points or whatever with the staff here, but can I please get a reply from an actual staff member or none at all. Thanks. I put up a ticket as well so useless comments from players aren’t needed.

You got a staff member when they told you to change it.

You don’t have to like the staff to realise they call the shots and if they say change a name then deal it with kiddo.

If you really think you should be allowed to use the word Spank in your character names then wait on your submitted support ticket.

Your name wasn’t changed just because someone reported it, the report only brought it to the attention of staff who then decided that yes, it had to change.

And you can’t expect to post in a public forum and not get replies from other players lol. And comments aren’t simply useless when you don’t like the facts. Just seems like you had a bad day and want to take it out on anyone. Relax, have a drink, maybe get some fresh air.

At the same time you forget, that this is an international game. If an English speaker might not see something bad, this might not the same like some non-English speaker is going to see it. Anet staff has to see this sight as well.

And if you don’t want to see some good advice in the public (forum), than don’t go public in the first place. The forum is not the place for individual answers from the staff. Such answers will only be given via a support ticket.
