Hiya,

My old GW account is linked to my GW2 account, but i decided to go with a new display name, so i bought a new game, and i was just wondering if im still able to link my old GW account to this new one aswell?

Will i be able to link it after i created my GW2 account? or that has to be done through Register>Link Account, directly?

What exactly will happen to my GW1 email adress, if this gets linked to my new GW2 account with a different email?

It is possible for support to unlink your gw2 account for your gw-account.
It is also policy to only help there where it is vital to help (and so not for plain convinience). So to see if they are willing to do so in this situation you have to file a support ticket. They can only unlink it. so after that you have link the gw1 account to the new gw2 account (if they are willing to unlink it). After linking the gw1 accounts is linked to the same email as the (new) gw2-account.

Hmm i see, but can i link it after creating this new GW2 account? or it has to be done when creating it? Do i have the option to link once im logged into my new account?

You first have to ask support to unlink the current link. And as said, im unsure if they will do that.

This is quite weird actually, everything is solved and good, but i just have to say this anyway because it clearly looks like a bug so it dosent get abused.

I created this account when GW2 came out, as Display Name “Escoph” – Linked to GW1 for HoM points.

I wanted to make a new Account for the Display Names sake. (Arccai)
So i bought a new key to be able to do so. (But i didnt want to lose my GW1 Linking)

But now somehow after doing this.
Register>Link Account.

Typed in the new Serial Code, Email and Pass, choosed the new Display Name on page2, then clicked Accept, and a message came up saying.

Serial Code Overlap
The serial code has already been applied to your account.

So that didnt work, and a few minutes later i notice my Display name here on the Forum has changed, and 15 min after, it changed in-game aswell!
And the weird part is, the key hasent even been used yet!

Its still useable, and i am able to continuesly recreate my Display name by doing this.

Im not complaining at all, i bought a new game, i got a new display name, that was my goal by doing whole thing, and the best part is that i dont have to get into the problem with Linking, since this is my first account and its already linked.

But clearly it aint suppose to be like this so, id like to report it.

You’re only able to link 1 GW1 account to 1 GW2 account. (that’s how it should work at least)

But something weird is going on here, cause normally the only way to change a display name is through support.

It might be a good idea to open a ticket with support to sort things out.
