I have been getting bad lag spikes also since the patch i mean its everytime i get in combat i have checked everything on my computer and there great im running at 80 fps which is fine and i have even tried turning my settings down which isn’t the problem because before this patch i was fine no lag nothing…. So please try to fix this soon

I have been experiencing lag spikes all the time since Jan.30
there is a big delay everytime i activate a skill. this makes me miss my combos
and when i use mobility skills i often teleport back to where im from or a few paces back.
i already cleaned my registry files, defraged and also reinstalled windows in an attempt to get back the game play experience before. i also did speedtests and my broadband seems to be in order.
i just had to stop playing cause it stresses me out by trying to bare with it. I hope a.net can address this issue or atleast help me out if this is entirely my side.

Just chiming in to add that I am also experiencing these lags recently. Granted we had a few changes and upgrades to our wireless LAN coincidentally at the time of the new patch but what’s odd for me is that the other users on the network does not seem to register any difference. I have not experienced this regular lag in game prior to the recent january big patch.

Symptoms include what many here already mentioned but most prominent are skills activating after several seconds delay. I’m not certain if this is a world server related thing, im on ehmry bay, but i have no intention of moving to..less populated servers if thats the case as im quite invested in this one. thanks..

While I did not experience lag at the time of the patch, I do notice it today. According to Win7 resource monitor the network lag is 1500-2000ms when it used to be around 400-500ms. Relogging did not help. And this seems to be a problem at the servers’ end since I do not have such problem with other games such as League of Legends or Lord of the Rings Online.

Skills are activated after 2s, and my pet seems to have problems following me around.

I am also experiencing this lag since the patch, it feels like there’s a delay with all skills from pressing a button to them activating can take up to 5 seconds. Also people sometimes jump about from lag. I’m almost certain it’s not my pc or Internet because all other games are running smoothly – planetside2 etc.

Hi, Im also experiencing lag since the patch. It has been getting progressively worse, too. At first it was only main cities > then it was everything was just plain laggy > then DC everytime I map transition > now its all of the above + Super Lag.

NOTE: sometimes guesting to other areas helps a little... :/

Sorry, but what are level3 servers? Has it started after the latest patch for you?

Today I had lag on Ethernal Battleground (I’m playing from Fissure of Woe and I entered in server 1 just 20 mins ago).
After 20 mins I quit, because I’ve a lot of delay in all the skills on my bar (a lot means 8-10 seconds) and also in update player position on the map.
After some seconds basicall I saw the result of all (and usually of course I’ll be dead since I cannot see nothing real on my screen).

I hope it is just a day since I’ve never had any issue before.

Tomorrow I’ll try again.

Same problem here, was playing this afternoon and everything was fine.
Playing from Italy in Gandara
Extreme lagg and I disconnected 3 times in 15 minutes.

I have huge lag spikes also today……………….from Greece and on SF server(no that really matters the server)

I have been experiencing major lag and disconnect issues in past hour, just GW2 client alone. I’ve run diagnostics and speed tests on my connection, it looks fine on my end even when I’m directly connected to my modem. I’m on NA server Tarnished Coast, I’m currently stuck in the Lions Arch loading screen again.

Getting mad Lag over on Fortaspenwood. in fine in overflow servers in LA but when i go to queensdale or sparkfly or even into Fractals i either get Disconnected or have unbearable lag. Please fix

No they’re American servers

Battleping helped with the lag in my case. But paying 5$ a month should not be a must to play they game….

I’ve been getting lag too. A few people suggested my computer or the amount of people playing on the server but this never happened before jan 28th patch.

Edit: I’m on Emery Bay Server.

Things have vastly improved on Tarnished Coast. Cursed Shore is playable again after the Jan 28 patch.

Open-world dragon fights have deteriorated in connection stability after this patch, though, but I suspect this was due to the cap boosts and server locks.

Same here. Since the flame and frost patch I’m experiencing lag. Especially during WvsW fights and SPvP.

-On my thief stealth sometimes doesn’t trigger.
-And/or Im visible eventhough im stealthed
-General skill lag, 1 a 2 sec delay
-General lag spikes during combat
-Peoplet cant stomp me and I cant stomp them

1h to load from the char selection to the “real time game”. When inside, lag in everything (MINUTES of lag).

from the flame&frost patch only a light increase in the loading, yesterday it was totally a mess, no way to play.

Horrible lag starting at the first dungeon boss.
Everything except for my char is freezing, only chat works.
When it releases, I see everything I missed in a fast sequence.
Sometimes these lags end in dc, and sometimes not.

After the first lag has occured, the game will lag on and on till i kill it and restart.

EDIT:
I want to emphasise why I think it’s the client and not network.
The reason is that the chat still works.
Also, since I got to watch the whole time window I missed, I guess (I develop information systems, and have no knowledge in high performance graphic programming) That my client queues the graphics while they occur while the client is stuck, and then shows them all.
My guess is towards the queue mechanism in the client application.

If your getting the lag after the patch, eg. skill lag, other players lagging etc. Submit a ticket on the support page so ANET will perhaps start to solve this problem.

I have been experiencing on and off lag since the Jan 28th patch. According to Speedtest.net my download speed drops from 40-60 mb/s when not playing to under 1 mb/s when the game is running.

I’ll end up getting long delays on skills (10-30 seconds) with all characters and mobs frozen. Gameplay will often only resume once my character has downed or died.

This is usually followed by a d/c somewhere down the line.

Huge lags with skill activation (from 2 to 30 seconds), then all of a sudden the game resumes.

Hi, yesterday i played again at night and did have no lag at all. Today the same till now, about 7:00 pm (again..) massive lag issue started in cursed shore, but i had it also with other characters in other place.

It seems ppl are getting thoes randomly. Half of my guild (we are all Polish) have thoes lags around 20-23 pm. My normal upc internet have around 20 ping at thoes hours to google and i never had problems with it at gw2. Battlepings sloved the problem but it should be fixed asap.

This is not normal, I got lag every evening, starting arround from 18:00 PM.
The game just get unplayable, I realy wonder: what’s happening?

I’m from Italy as well and since yesterday I’m experiencing abismal lag spikes like others on this thread. I’m on Whiteside Ridge.

Today I had a huge 2-3 min lag spike that obviously got me killed.

I tried rebooting my router to no avail. I also contacted my ISP, but they checked and everything is fine on their end.

All my internet services besides GW2 work flawlessly. My VOIP provider has servers located in Germany, yet I’m able to talk to my guildmates without any lag whatsoever, so it doesn’t seem to be a routing issue on my network.

Please investigate the problem since the game is completely unplayable right now.

On top of all this…….i can see-read and write on chat normally without lag @ all……Everything else is stacked until i got dced with error, or ppl leave the place:/

yesterday i still enjoyed wvw without lag but today its really annoying, i can chat normally but cant move and skill is delayed until everyone move out of my fov. this is really annoying

almost forget. the newsfeed when log in on laucher can not be loaded too. this lag is abnormal :/

having this issue over 1 month ++.

everyday noticed lag from GMT+12 5pm onwards to GMT+12 1am, dungeons cannot be played, wvw is impossible. fps remains at 100 – 220, moving around is fine but then when you hit, it will take awhile to see any damage dealt. sometimes you just get a disconnect.

15 minutes ago doing bg jormag. impossible to cast skills or such until everything is over. jormag still alive and kicking after it being dead for 25 seconds on my screen. then warpspeed died.

the lag today is worst. totally unplayable. no way can you do fotm or arah or even coe. you are dead before you see any skill effects.

can anyone from anet help out with this issue? its very frustrating for us having this issues and not get a fix. have talked to isp they say everything is fine. not sure where is the problem. please do help and respond asap ty.

also while doing jormag earlier, had this weird problem where i get ported around idk how. wp to the nearest towards jormag, walked to jormag and see him, then get “ported” to hotw waypoint. walked there again to the pact bazooka, get ported again behind the ice shard. then run around again ported back to front of the ice shard then get knockback all the way a few times. cannot pick up weapons on floor, cannot cast skills.

It is safe to use pingzapper? (I mean, can they steal my login?)
I would like to try it since it has the best free trial (1hour before dc)
MAYBE in this way I can play again (lost shore update kill me -.-)

Well since the frost and flame path i have been suddenly experiencing random lag periods that cause TP and also in game combat to delay its horrible to play with i understand a lot of others are reporting the same issue…. can we have a update from a nice Anet person on this as its causing some distress and meaning game play is pretty much terrible.

I bought the game a couple of days ago, and I’m also experiencing lag, which makes the game unplayable (delays and so on). Never happens in other games. Hopefully ANet fixes it soon.

Im having the same issue on the American side of the house…Anvil Rock server. I made another post so here it is:

Two days ago I was running GW2 with no issues on highest graphic settings for the most part. Loading times were fast with no issues.

Last night I logged in and it took a really log time just to log in upon initial start up. It took even longer to get to the character select screen. So I finally get in the game last night and its lag fest 2013!! I went from 45-60 FPS (two days ago on same settings) to 11FPS in the wild and 6FPS in towns…

So I lowered all my graphic settings in game… had no affect on FPS and Lag. I logged off and defragged my computer…no change. I then checked all my drivers…all up to date. I then ran a full virus scan with both of my programs (AVG and Malwarebytes)..no hits…

Restarted computer…no change in FPS. After discussing this with my GW2 buddies, I decided to delete the client thinking I could have a corrupted file somewhere…so, i redownloaded the entire game, logged in, and after all the changes, scans, defrag, etc.. NO change in FPS!!

So i disabled my antivirus and even logged out of steam…no change at all. Still lag fest…

I followed several different AMD suggested optimization threads on this forum and nothing has helped…

Im starting to think this issue might be server side, since no matter what I do on my end (all the common fixes for games), it never affects the FPS or lag issues Im having. I then checked my internet speed and everything fast as normal…

I then played two online games to test the theory..they ran great. I can even run skyrim on maxed out settings with alot of intensive mods….

Jade quarry WvW can;t play at all due to lag, everything was fine 2 days ago never had any issue, i also get slight lag in Spvp

Currently experiencing bad game lag. Every few minutes it seems like my net completely disconnects, but only for GW2. All other internet related things work, it is just GW2 that seems to lose connection. after about 10-60 seconds it re-syncs but a few minutes latter does it again.

Sea of Sorrows for me. I’ve given up on wvw for today as the lag is the worst i’ve ever seen it. Even pve is almost unplayable with constant disconnects and massive server lag. Everything was fine yesterday, but today is like nothing i’ve ever encountered.

Basically yes. I watched myself die, get rezzed, die, get rezzed, die, get rezzed then die again all in about 5 seconds after a 30 second freeze. Ported back to repair my broken gear and ran back to find the zone event over with zero credit lol.

Constant freezing, rubberbanding and disconnects. No other online game is having this problem for me atm, so will give it a break and do something else to see if it fixes itself later on.

Am in Australia and my friends online in gw2 are having similiar issues.

Game has become completely unplayable in FOTM the past couple days for me. Chat will still function fine but all the characters on my screen will be stuck running into walls/doing nothing for 10-20 seconds at a time before teleporting around. It seems to mostly happen when entering combat.
All tests on my connection have revealed no problems and I am only seeing this in FoTM so I have no idea what it could be.

I am also from Australia and on SOS and I’m having a terrible time attempting to do FoTM. I watch my party teleport around the map after I have just instantly died. Fix please!
