Q:

Hi… I have been experiencing a weird problem. Every midnight Eastern, I get a network error that drops me to the character select screen. I can immediately get right back in without any problems. I would not be complaining except that I usually play WvW, and on SoR, once you leave WvW, you have to re-queue (and if I disconnect while in combat, being dead on reconnect in Lion’s Arch is somewhat embarrassing).

I called Verizon FiOS, and they could not imagine that there is any problem on their end. Interestingly, I do not disconnect from my comms (TeamSpeak and RaidCall)- only from the GW client.

I run Windows 8, and am on SoR. What other info can I provide that might help you?

What you need to do is run Ping’s to several locations 15mins before you expect a disconnection.
and when the pings stop, do a traceroute to that IP address to find out what Hop it fails at.

Then Give that Info to support at Verizon for them to take to Level3 (NOC) to troublshoot.

Ping 4.2.2.2(Level3 DNS), 8.8.8.8(Google DNS), The Server IP for SoR(I dont know what it is), and your Default Gateway all using the -t (continuous) flag.

When pings stop where do they stop?

If its just SoR – then its at Anets end and you can’t do much about it
If its 4.2.2.2 and/or 8.8.8.8 along with SoR then its something with your Carrier (remember to do a traceroute to SoR)
If its also your default gateway, its your home equipment.
