change the thermal paste. After 4 years, the thermal paste should had completely dried.

I actually dont recommend buying a new laptop if your current laptop is capable of running the game.

The noises are because your fan and heatsink are probably caked with dust. Clean them out, replace the thermal grease and you should be good to go (or have someone that is knowledgeable about that do it).

Need to clean your computer / laptop just like cleaning your house AC / heater filters.

I would do what has been suggested but also the fan itself may be failing if you can get to it replace it that is best, but if you can’t find the same fan you could remove the label in the center of the fan. most fans have a small hole under the label put one drop of light machine oil like 3in1 oil in the hole then spin the fan with you finger a few time see if any oil goes down the hole don’t put much, should only be one drop is all you will need. Clean any excess oil off the fan and reapply the label. If the label will not stick back on use a small piece of masking tape. Then reassemble the laptop and see if that fixes it, good luck.

Since you said you’re not very knowledgeable about computers I suggest you get a friend who has experience or a professional to open up your laptop and clean it for you if you ever decide to go that way.

Now if you go the route of buying a new pc for your budget(I’m assuming you don’t wanna overclock and would like to use your new pc out of the box):

PSU is a bit too much but it’s cheapest Seasonic I can find for UK and you can’t go wrong with having some overhead for it.

You have to remove the top HDD cage to fit the GPU but that’s easily done by removing thumbscrews only.

The case will be perfect for you, the dust filters are easily removed and washable, just remember to do it regularly(probably once a month will be fine).

Edit: kitten , you wanted a new laptop lol, probably a Lenovo G505s is good enough for your needs.

Yeah. Thanks for all your replies. Though the fact that it overheats isn’t my main problem. One thing I also have trouble with is how fast the game runs. My graphics are terrible and I don’t want to invest my money into products such as a can of compressed air; apparently it’s very costly. For example: if I was to go WvW (which is one of the main aspects about GW2 that I enjoy) and run in large parties, there would suddenly be no sound apart from every 10 seconds or so. All my settings are put to the lowest option available so all I ever see are name tags. Divinity’s Reach is also a place where I spend most of my time and I lag quite a lot. Therefore, I actually want to buy a new PC so I can have a far better experience in-game. Hope you’ve understood my problem and can help to decide which PC I can purchase.

Do you really need a laptop or not?

If not, just go with the PC parts I posted or something similar. You get more value for your money when it comes to performance for a desktop than a laptop.

If you don’t want to invest money into compressed air, my opinion, but don’t get a pc…. If you refuse to take care of it what’s the point? That’s like buying a brand new car and then you want to run it for years without changing the oil because you don’t want to “invest” on something needed as simple as basic maintenance.

If you want it to last, regardless if you get a new setup or not, I would highly recommend dusting it out with compressed air once a month at least. I personally bought one of these a while back and love it,

people are saying you don’t need a new laptop. Spending like 10 euro on some thermal paste and an hour doing a cleaning and reapplication will get your performance back to what it was before the problems started.

If you really really want a new computer in that price range i would go for a Lenovo Y50

Personally I don’t think of a laptop when someone says PC.

I also scoff at the notion of an inexpensive but decent gaming laptop. The compromises needed for laptops precludes a decent gaming laptop, inexpensive or not.

But that’s me.

I know right?

But there are a few options that are acceptable, if you dont mind buying older tech.

Precision M6500 with a FireGL 7820 (HD5870M) i7-920x(Quad HT)
HP DV6t-6100 With a HD6770M i7-2630QM (Quad
HT)
HPDV6Z-6c00 With a HD7690M APU A8-3510MX (Can be OC’d to 3Ghz and runs ALMOST as well as an i7 920x)

All the above can be found used from 350-650 and are 2x’3x’s better then laptops that are new in the same price range, for gaming.

Desktop: 4790k@4.6ghz-1.25v, AMD 295×2, 32GB 1866CL10 RAM, 850Evo 500GB SSD
