This problem is likely not due to Guild Wars 2

I was playing GW2 minutes ago and wanted to play some WvW, but had to get the new build first. Closed my client to download it, but got the message “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher”. This message is complete kitten, and I’m hoping someone here has some experience with it on Windows 10, as I’ve never seen it before. A quick google tells me that many people have problems with Windows 10 Smart Screen, but I have never had that active (and it is not currently active) because I don’t click scary links. Another suggestion I found was 3rd party software that is “totally legit”, but I don’t trust that. If anyone has experience with this, please let me know!

I’d try moving your gw2.dat file out, delete everything else, grab the installer again, get it to start downloading, exit it, then move the dat file back to save redownloading all the assets.

Sounds like something got corrupted unexpectedly, and that should hopefully clean it up.

Otherwise, I suggest filing a support ticket.

I cant’ connect to the game too. Since yesterday, the launcher just instant crash without any log of any sort.

Have the same issue, gw2 worked fine before the w10 update and now the launcher just crashes without message or starting the game.

Having the same issues. Tried repairing the game and also deleting the local.dat file.

I am having the same issue with the 64 bit client.

Most of the crashes described sound exactly like the results of an incompatible overlay injected into the rendering path, such as RivaStatisticsServer, Afterburner, etc, or a memory reading DPS meter that has not been updated.

There were changes in the latest windows 10 update that have causes the former to begin crashing, which shows up as gw2 crashing because, well, they inject their code into the process to show FPS overlays, monitor performance, etc.

I had the same issue. I use RTSS and Afterburner, and if I have them running before or after I launch GW2, it will crash. Thanks @SlippyCheeze.

At least for the former there is some beta or other — 7.0 or something, I think? — that fixes the issue. No idea about the later, but check for the latest versions.

Something in Windows 10 changed in a way that led to this crash in them, and they are updating to adjust for it.
