New patch ruined my FPS?
restart the client
someone else had this as well
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/60FPS-to-15FPS-in-this-last-patch
I did. In fact I restarted whole computer, pretty much the same problem still terrible FPS, unplayable. It must haven been the patch.
are you using an nVidia Optimus laptop? another thread posted indicates its not using the nvidia graphics like it should be.
No no, “normal” PC, ATI Catalyst
Even when I changed it to the lowest possible it was like 9-20 FPS it’s a joke. It would be cool if someone from Arena Net would comment on this.
try renaming local.dat in the my documents\guild wars 2 folder
You mean just write the same thing again? I just did, nothing’s changed.
Do you think installing again whole game could help?
These threads seem to crop up after every update….
As for reinstalling, probably not. If resetting in-game settings (via renaming local.dat) didn’t help, check the usual culrpits – PCI-e bandwidth, temperatures, PSU (underclocking). Otherwise it’s placebo.
Otherwise it’s placebo? Game used to run smooth and nice, suddenly becomes unplayable and you come up with placebo? Thanks for your tips but I checked them, didn’t help.
Well that’s what this forum is for isn’t it?
I don’t know if it helps but character menu and map works smooth.
I’m not sure what’s going on but my FPS is about the same as pre-patch but WvW is now extremely choppy, like the video is skipping frames (I know that may sound odd as my fps is the same but it is what it is!).
Using Nvidia 6 series, latest drivers.
I’m also getting similar problems. It didn’t happen before the two previous patches. :/

When I am next to a wall or small area, you know not much landscape to see FPS is 60, but when I turn around and there is a view of some buildings, forest or so it gets terrible 15 fps or so. Nothing like that happened before and I have 12 giga of ram.
The amount o RAM you have makes little difference tbh. Anything above 4gb is more than enough asuming you dont have a rediculous amount of programs running in the background.
For example my old man uses an old C2E rig with 8gb DDR2 800 RAM ..he just lost 2gb of that due to hardware failure ..but hasnt noticed any difference what so ever now he’s runnign at 6gb.
In GW2 FPS can only really be affected by 3 things. CPU, GPU, Software.
EVGA GTX 780 Classified w/ EK block | XSPC D5 Photon 270 Res/Pump | NexXxos Monsta 240 Rad
CM Storm Stryker case | Seasonic 1000W PSU | Asux Xonar D2X & Logitech Z5500 Sound system |
Well… it must have been the patch. I have no other problems with other games. I read the forum and few other people also reported this. So please Arena fix it up for me. Would love to go back to the game.
They aren’t going to answer you, they have better things to do. (like working on the fix)
