I started playing this game and bought HoT two weeks ago without realizing that a new expansion is coming on August 1st. Do I have to pay for the second expansion again? This is quite irritating..

The announcement is August 1st. We don’t know the actual release date, but it will likely drop within 2-3+ months if we’re lucky.

If you purchased from ArenaNet, you can request a refund. If not, you would have to discuss it with your retailer.

It’s more likely the new expansion will be 3-5 months away.

If you purchased directly from ArenaNet, you’ll likely be automatically upgraded to the next expansion (a leak suggested ArenaNet would be doing yearly half priced expansions, hence HoT’s suspicious price drop) or will receive a refund when buying it.

If you purchased from a 3rd party, you’ll likely be considered a veteran account and receive the bonuses for owning HoT rather than a refund.
