Guild Wars 2

The thread title says it all – I have no sound at all in my game, completely silent. All my in-game options are set correctly and my sound drivers on my computer are all updated. I used to have sound with no problems, not sure when it went silent as I would intermittently have a ‘no-sound’ bug but then it would resume at some point. Now it has been like this for a long time and it really takes away a lot from the game. Any suggestions?

What version of Windows are you running?
Are you playing sound through a speaker setup or through headphones?

One thing to check would be to:

• Launch GW2 and then minimize it
• Looking at your sound mixer settings
  • By your clock on your task bar if you have displaying it on there enabled, left-click the audio icon and then left-click the ‘Mixer’ option

Windows 7 (and 8?) has advanced functionality so audio volume can be configured separately for individual programs in relation to the master volume slider, or even to mute individual programs.

• Check to see if GW2 is marked as muted or has its slider down to zero in relation to the master volume slider.

Also, if you are playing with a headset that has an audio wheel or mute button on its cord, perhaps that could also be the culprit for the random audio loss; accidental muting via that control.

It is also likely that muting (or turning the volume down to zero) via that control is separate from the Windows Audio mute and volume control, so if you muted sound on the cord control then you may not also see audio as being muted in the Windows Audio Mixer and would be forced to have to unmute via that control.
