i have noticed that after the latest patch of october the game just seem to not relase all the memory it have been used,

i first noticeda big slowing down and lags durign events (that i was able to play fluently with no lags or freezes) and the pc response was extremly slow, then looking at the memory usage i saw a 99 % usage of the memory . I closed the game, that was the only program active in that moment, ( aside teh normal background activity that runs onthe OS) and the memory usage just decreased from 99% to 92%. I want to specify also that the normal memory usasge before i launch the game is around 24-27% and it reach up to 44% of usage with the game runing ( those are value i got before the october patchs)

my pc conf is the following : cpu intel i7 2600k, 8 gb of ram, OS windows 7, GTX560 Ti

Again I want to underline that i didnt had any issue with the memory usage % before the latest patch

I can conceive of no way a process can keep using memory once it’s not running. That would be news to me. How are you sure this is happening?

I know my hl2.exe (counter strike/tf2 etc) stays open according to the task manager and I need to end the process from there after I closed it according to windows.

Right, but that’s different than a process still using memory when it’s not running In that case, it’s running

As you say, you can always check for processes running when there’s no application shown running in the application pane.

A Process can spawn many others and those can hang as well. From simple service calls to .dll hell. There are plenty ways to have memory leaks. Just because the main .exe is closed does not mean there is nothing still running

If you are on Windows 7 you should be able to see more detailed information on the gw2.exe process including the number of handles etc

I have checked the variouses program and their memory usage and , after i closed the game , summing up the total memory usage that taskmanager and resource monitor shows it didnt reach the total memory that the system say that is in use. There is a big difference in the results.

and yes i have checked out all the process.

the fact is that there is a big chunk of memory that is in use but here is no program that is using it , and no reference to see which program is using it . But this happen any time i close the game .
