Last week my wife and I were transferring from one server to another. We did so at the same time. She made the transfer just fine. I, however, got thrown to a EU server.
I sent in an email to ArenaNet and got the standard “You’ll have to wait out the week” form email.
Fast forward one week. I cannot transfer out of the server that I am on.
One of two things happens:
1) The game client errors out without so much as an error code. I then wait 5-10 minutes and nothing.. much like a bounced check I get thrown back to whence I came.
2) The game client freezes somewhat (locks me out from anything but the standard alt+f4 and sits there. Upon any attempt to log back in I get an error on a gray screen that states the server transfer is underway. This seems to be a fallacy as upon my next successful log in I am, once again, back to whence I came.
I just want to play the game with my wife. This is why we purchased two copies. I do not want to be stuck another week without being able to play Guild Wars 2 with my wife.

Hi there, KerrMD. Could you please update your support ticket? I believe that Technical Support would want to review this situation, as it is outside the norm and may reveal some sort of issue that we’d want to investigate.
Thank you for the response Gaile. I updated my ticket shortly after making this post and have gotten a response back that I am currently shaking my head about.
They asked me to wait as the transfer may still be going through. It seems as though they did not even finish reading my update before they tacked on a standard response.
Just to update:
I had forgotten that I had mail in transit to my wife’s character that took 3 to 4 days for her to receive. After the mail went through I attempted another transfer. Well, the game client froze so I went off to work and came back to the game client still frozen. Upon a client restart and logging in I found that I was in fact transferred to the server that I had wanted to get to.
Here’s the kicker. Someone at ArenaNet transferred me the next morning over to another server. I’ve updated my previous support ticket but have gotten no answer as yet. I really do not, nor should I have to, wait another week to transfer back to the server on which my wife plays. Given the fact that they transferred me after I had already transferred within a 24hr period means that the argument that they cannot transfer me again in a weeks time is invalid.

Lol that sucks.
My personal theory regarding the human-error that some people are reporting from ArenaNet customer support is that they are working too hard, trying to push through all the tickets they receive and some of them are making silly mistakes because they have a quota to process or something similar pushing them.
I prefer my above theory rather than assuming some of the support team are just stupid and bringing the rest of the team down by tarnishing their reputation.
ArenaNet, I hope you are investigating all the claims of CS doing stupid things and sending stupid replies to people’s support tickets since the longer it goes on the more damaged your CS reputation will get.
@Bluestone I did not mean to imply that it was stupidity or ineptitude that led to my issue. If in fact it was due to that original in game mail to my wife I blame servers that are being overtaxed. It could have been something as simple as a random bit flip.
I did not, nor do I ever, assume stupidity on the part of support personal. I’ve worked customer support and know how frustrating it is when ones hands are tied due to company policy and I know full well about quotas in the CS line of work.
I do, however, have issue with been initially told that they cannot (read: will not) transfer my character because I had transferred already in that past 7 day period. The thing is that a miffed transfer (be it from a flipped bit or act of God) sent me to an EU server when I did not even have any EU servers listed on my screen at the time of starting said transfer.
If you were merely commenting to Gaile in efforts to be supportive of the CS team then, by all means, ignore this particular section of the post.
No of course not, the reference to stupid errors was entirely my own opinion
