Have you somehow missed all the discussions about how large events utterly destroy the frame rate of the game? Yours just happens to be one of many so why chime in here when there are larger threads discussing this topic that have been around since launch?

Well, In all my time playing games. I’ve never had a problem with my system.
Guild wars 2 however, I’ve had multiple problems, Beginning and relating to extreme abusive lag to my machine. I know the game, has optimization problems and I would like to ask when these will be fixed, I’m thinking of taking a break from the game as well as most of my many over friends will be simply because, this game is not good for our hardware, and is not optimized to work with all computers.

Multiple friends of mine, have had this problem so I know I’m not just being singled out here, the lag on the game is Unbearable sometimes, but it never dips below 10 FPS. It usually just hangs around there in big battle scenes such as “The Shatterer”, or “Tequatle the Sunless” or multiple events in World vs World, also the scene from The mists, where you’re a charr back in the old war for ascalon.

You’ve lost multiple player base because of this issue, such as TotalBiscuit announcing it on his review.

I ask of you, to please consider optimizing the game in a future patch soon, many of your old loyal players will return because of this.

Not to be blunt, but you have three options;
1) Overclock
2) Buy better/newer hardware
3) The issues have been present for 7+ months, the issue isn’t getting resolved in 19 days. Continue waiting for Guild Wars 3/move on.

Indeed. whilst i symapthize with the OP, even my system has bad performance compared ot what im used to. Now obviosly for some they would be happy with 25 FPS in the massive zergs of WvW, specialy since most drop down to <10 fps. But having to spend thousands on a rig and then OC just to get 25 fps its insane.

OP, Anet WILL NOT respond to this in any meaningfull way, if at all. The chances of any significant improvment to the performance of GW2 is highly unlikely as it would requir a complete change of game engine and/or a massive rework of the current one. and thats somthing they will not do.

I heard awhile back Anet was supposed to be fixing their optimization issues, but with nothing being done I begin to wonder if they even care. Anet acts oblivious to the issue and doesn’t address it at all; while saying how much they care about their games and fan base. I guess time will tell, and I don’t plan to play until it’s resolved. Hopefully before the next expansion as I couldn’t see to many people coming back.

I’m going to keep supporting threads like these because I’m getting quite sick of these terrible performance issues, the games almost been out a year now, more including beta and they done nothing about it, absolutely nothing at all, the game still runs just as bad (worse for some people) since the day it launched, what does that tell you about their long term support for this game? To me its going to be a game I’m ganna have to quit soon because I’m feeling no effort from the developers at all in the improvement of this game.

Well one thing I must agree, this kinda true lol.
The client we had at launch ran way more smoother than the today’s client version.

The loads were faster, I didnt had double loads as it happens now, its weird.
Maybe a fresh new install solve it or not but downloading 16gb again not really fun lol.

Sure some people will say now it has more people, but 1st month we had way more since the hype was so big, we played since BWE and every patch it happens we see the client way different than it was at optimization issue.

The end of culling made the game shows closer as BWE, but still need some tweaks, specially because of the skill lag effect. Strange that BWE we didnt had such issues as skill lag, only the initial video lag when zergs met.

The game will adjust with time, Anet might fix this sometime just dont know when, but they will.

The issues run too deep to “fix”. Problems range from rendering to data handling, So big the problem is that it needs rewriting not fixing.

Sadly, Anet lacks the incentive to address the issue because:
1- The cost of hiring qualified programming talent to perform such a task would be too high.
2- the game is selling well as it is.

Southsun Cove is hardly optimized as it seems. Standing in some places, I’m getting FPS around 30 for no apparent reason like in larger WvW battles.

2- the game is selling well as it is.

Rewriting something as fundamental as the rendering engine is simply not a task to be undertaken lightly or to be expected to be accomplished in a relatively short period of time.

This is more about the engine’s limits is X (players on screen, objects, meshes, effects) and the engine is getting pushed to 1.5x X or more and the engine simply can’t scale well at those numbers. It’s the art department overstepping their polygon budget or the effects team introducing a GPU particle intensive effect for what becomes a common power or upping the player limit in areas to reduce overflow instances when they enabled guesting. Combine them all together and the engine is no longer having to deal with towing a camper over rolling hills but up Pike’s Peak, and it doesn’t like it one bit.

You know that this is something which has to have some time for developers to know what exactly is going on. In large event sometimes things can get problematic at times but somehow I very much doubt that you can simply hire more people to find the problem.

The engine and it drawbacks prolly have been tested during BETA , but meanwhile things change and so does the engine performance.

The only thing which is troublesome for me is ability lag (AKA not enough hamsters peddling when it is needed).

The framerate/slideshow can be fixed but if it was that easy then there wouldn’t be a topic about this.

Don’t forget that Arenanet wants everyone to enjoy themselves playing in those large events and WvWvW that is why they made this game.

They know exactly what’s going on, they’ve known it for a long time. According to their AMAs in reddit and the videos they’ve published about the subject, they have excellent profiling tools that gives them feedback in the most minute details you wouldn’t imagine.

In large event sometimes things can get problematic at times but somehow I very much doubt that you can simply hire more people to find the problem.

Is not about quantity, is about quality. Read my post again.

Don’t forget that Arenanet wants everyone to enjoy themselves playing in those large events and WvWvW that is why they made this game.
