PC DVD fails tin install
Peeps with similar issues, CS response:
Hi there Unhinged Carrot – First, I’d check to make sure this isn’t any kind of interference by any security software or firewalls.
This could also be an issue with closed ports (could you perhaps let me know the exact error code number you’re seeing?).
Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound. If you are connecting to Guild Wars 2 while on a campus, military, or business network, please check with your network’s administrator to verify that these ports are fully opened and unrestricted. If you are on a home Local Area Network (LAN), you will want to make sure that your network’s hardware is properly configured.
Guild Wars 2 installs to its own folder, mine is on my desktop. If I remember correctly, there was a problem with installing it into the programs folder. You might do a search and find out where it is, and move it to your desktop or games folder. Also, try running/installing it as an Administrator. This isn’t really the best sub-forum for this issue. There are many helpful and knowledgeable people in Tech Support who would be happy to help. =) Good luck.
Hi Inculpatus, luckily I have only one large drive, the bits of files we setup manually are in a directory I named Guild Wars 2 – but the huge download and install the game did is not in there.
After searching for anything from ncsoft – I found nothing., both program folders have no visually recognizable directories.
Search terms ncsoft, GW2, Guild Wars, do not find anything except the directory I made with a few small files.
So where did the game install itself to?
All last night the game would not connect to run, so I input a CS ticket.
This morning, the game connected and ran from the shortcut icon, nothing on my computer has changed, so it’s on NCSofts network side.
8 hours later, my ticket is not answered – guess they went to sleep also – that’s fine.
It depends on your OS as to where the game attempts to install.
Win XP – \Program Files\Guild Wars 2\
Win Vista/7 – \Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\
Any installation in another folder indicates some permission issue with the user that installed the program (likely NOT a local administrator). Are you logged on as the same user that installed GW2?
Have you tried to install the client from the website? If your internet connection is decent it likely would take an overnight session, but I’d say 90% of the players install via that method (again, I didn’t even know they sold a DVD version).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

If not, your best bet is to create a Tech Support ticket following these instructions: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/How-to-Submit-a-Technical-Support-Ticket-2/first#post3957
Good luck. =)
Edit: I see you have submitted a ticket, so best to just wait for a response and the help they will offer. I hope it gets cleared up quickly. =)
Oh, I re-read your last post. Are you saying the game is working for you now? If so, gratz, and welcome to Tyria.
