Hello, first off, my specs:
FX 6300 (turbo on) – Antec Khuler 620
8GB DDR3 1600 AMD Radeon
Asrock 970 Extreme 3
XFX R9 270x
XFX 750w PSU
2x Samsung EVO 840 SSD
Thermaltake Overseer w/ 4x 200mm fans, 1x 140mm fan
Windows 7
I have run HW Monitor and have noticed no spikes in heat, CPU taps about 75% load all cores – 35* C is the highest I’ve ever seen it go. My 270x taps around 50*C around 60% load — my case moves a ton of air.
The issue happens at odd times while either playing Guild Wars 2 or watching YouTube full screen for more than 40 minutes at a time. At first I chalked it up to a driver – flash compatibility issue, turned off Hardware Acceleration, updated both, but the issue remains. What happens is everything on the screen freezes, my keyboard leds remain lit but there is no input reception. Also my speakers emit a high pitched buzzing noise until I manually shut off my computer and turn it back on. I have had this issue in the past with my previous build ~ Asrock 770 mb w/ Phenom II x4 3GHz cpu, Ultra X3 600w psu ~ but since I have replaced all hardware I still cannot pinpoint the exact cause.
I can say I have confirmed it happens more if I use the X-Boost on my motherboard, but have yet to test without turbo boost enabled. Could it be the 4+1 phase power control is unable to properly turbo my CPU effectively?
Thanks for input.
