System shutdowns in a laptop usually are caused by overheating, check all the air vents and paths, make sure they are not blocked or clogged with dust. You may have to take the laptop apart to clean it out. Also are all the fans running and can you feal air coming out of the vents. Install a temperature monitoring app to see if heating is your issue one other issue is that your power adapter may be failing. Also you systems motherboard has safeguard circuts on it to detect over heating or abnormal voltage that shout down your laptop when the temps a to hight or bad voltage that may damage the system.

Had a similar issue a month or so ago, and cleaning my heatsink fixed the problem fine. Not sure why this game makes my rig overheat so much more compared to other, theoretically more taxing software, but there you have it.

The reason for heating issues in this game is that it is a CPU based game, meaning the CPU does the majority of the work rendering the game. This can drive your CPU to its max and heating become an issue so it’s very important that you maintain a good cooling eviroment while playing this game. PC maintenance requires a good cleaning regiment at least bi monthly take the case off your system take it outside and blow out with canned air. In the case of a laptop where it not practical to take it apart, find the canned air with that thin straw taped to the side of the can. Carefully stick that straw that straw threw the vent and get in there and blow it out as best you can good air flow is very important for a cool running system never block air vents and make sure you place your system so there are several inches of space around the case and make sure all fans a running properly.

And if you are not comfortable doing this on your own, there are places that offer PC cleaning services.
If you are within your computer’s manufacturer warranty do read up on what you can and can’t do before voiding the warranty. In the case of the desktop, make sure that you can pop the case before doing so if you’re still within warranty.

Hi I’m having a slight problem and thought maybe someone could help me:
I recently decided to start playing Guild Wars 2 again. Now my Problem is that I can play the game for about 30-60 min and then my Laptop just turns itself off, no bluescreen nothing it just shuts itself down.
My Specs are:
Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU@ 2.4 GHz
16GB RAMI have an Onbaord Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an AMD Radeon R7 M265 second Graphic Card
OS is Windows 8.1
Now I played the game fine about 7 Months ago without it crashing it has seriously just started doing this!
I can play other games like Battlefield, Titanfall, The Evil Within and Skyrim and other MMO’s on pretty good settings (Medium to High) and they don’t make my Laptop shut down!
Could it seriously be that Guild Wars 2 makes my PC overheat to such an extent while games that theoretically require more e.g. Battlefield 4 don’t? Or could the Problem have another source? Has anyone else had a problem like this or similar? Would be happy to get a bit of feedback on how to solve this!
Thanks and Best Regards!
I don’t know about laptops, but if it was a desktop…I’d say it’s a busted Power Supply Unit. I had that happen to me and It was because the PSU tranzistors were damaged and the computer kept shutting itself off and turning itself on, or restarting by it’s own. It happened once a day. New PSU fixed that though. But it was a desktop PC. I never had a laptop cause, well, they seem useless to me compared to a desktop PC which is my primary entertainment station and gives more bang for buck.

In my experience, thermal interface materials tend to dry faster on portable units than ones on the desktops. I’m quite comfortable sayind that It’s just your cpu and gpu pastes requires renewing with a good and durable one. I wouldnt do this on my own if you dont have enough experience because you might end up bricking the machine with a tiny mistake. This is valid if only you are 100% sure that your heatsinks are clean and not blocked.
