PC upgrade for WvW
GW2 is very CPU dependent. Most would say overly so.
The big piece that you should upgrade is CPU/Motherboard and your ram.
i5 3570k and i73770k with an aftermarket cooler overclocked to 4.5ghz would be your best bet.
In WvW graphics really are not the imperative so you could keep your current video card if you dont want to spend extra money. An SSD would help load times and OS boot speeds but isnt valuable in a WvW situation really.

You do not need to overclock your CPU like stated above, I run my i7-3770k at stock speeds and it eats WvW up no problems, I do have a 680GTX also though that helps, if you run the game with no culling turned on, then you will lag no matter what in a massive zerg vs zerg battle, my FPS usually takes a hit to about 15fps during these battles.
Bassicaly for ur rig u would almost need a whole new computer. When an upgrade means a new cpu motherboard and RAM ..that bassicaly a new rig.
I sugest u get atleast a 3570k CPU, a Asus or Gigabyte Z77 LGA1155 motherboard, A Coolermaster Evo 212 CPU Cooler, and 8gb of dual channel DDR31600mhz cl9 RAM.
You will also have to make sure ur current case is ATX compatable for the motherboard u get, has a good enough PSU, and that ur HDD, and Optical drives r Sata and not IDE.

Why would you run a 3770k at stock :O
Srsly tho it doesnt really matter what you have, the lag in wvw because of culling it just terrible.
Anet took the culling problem and tossed it onto the user instead of fixing the issue.

Thanks for the information all. I do realize all my components are pretty outdated. I don’t have the money for a complete new pc at this moment. Will look for a new cpu,mb and ram than. I’m pretty sure my PSU is enough (850w crosshair modular PSU) and all my drives are sata indeed.

The CPU cooler is large.
If you live near a microcenter you can get the mother board and CPU as a combo for $270 (in store only)
Cheaper option no overclocking. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qsc3
If you dont have a 64 bit operating system I would also get that.

5770 is still a powerfull card, it will run GW2 on high no problems. The bottheneck is the CPU, u should upgrade to a brand new i5. Certanlly not cheap but a new GFC won’t give u any performance boost in GW2.
