WTFast doesn’t do a kitten.
During 2014, I have used multiple ping reducing services and made own VPN servers all around Europe.
Anet Support said it’s my ISP problem with routing.
Funny part is, that no matter where I connected from – multiple places in countries such as
- Germany
- France
- UK
- Netherlands
there always was a connection drop between VPN and Gw2 server.
But okay, it’s my ISP fault.

You do know why using a VPN fixes the problem right? It’s not because it’s a magic service that makes your connection WTFast. What VPNs claim to do (reduce your ping) isn’t actually possible unless they own private networks. What VPNs really do is change the route you take to your destination which could improve your connection. In the case of Europe, one of the routes is being throttled during specific hours which causes packet loss and is why using a VPN to go around it will fix the problem.
By acknowledging that using a VPN will fix the problem, you’re admitting that the problem is outside of ArenaNet’s control, fyi. Also, there are free VPNs you can use, though they have limitations such as a bandwidth cap or a time limit.

It doesn’t matter where you connect from, it matters what route you’re actually taking. If you’re in the heart of the issue, you’re going to have the problem regardless of what you do. You will want to verify the routes using tracerts through the VPN, and you should post them in that EU thread.
Where the problem exactly is, I don’t know, but it looks like it’s somewhere in Telia’s network and before reaching the ncsoft-telia link. One person who bothered to post a lag vs no lag tracert using a VPN ruled that link out.

Oh, I did trace the routes through VPNs.
That’s why I was checking different locations in each country to avoid same nodes on the route.
Posting all of it won’t do anything.
I am not alone or only few people who have such problem.
So I found a quite nice solution to it.
ArenaNet ignore connectivity problem, I ignore Buy Gems button.
