Patch download failure.
I too have this problem, and it shows 0.00KB/sec with one 1KB file remaining… restarting hasn’t helped
Hi Kopipoki – Do you happen to have any security software currently enabled? This is generally the main cause for patch/installation issues.
I can’t imagine how this would be related to anti-virus or anything, since every one of the previous few dozen patches since launch downloaded without a hitch, and all but the one file from this patch did as well.

I am running the mac client and having the same issue. I’ve tried being patient, letting it run all afternoon so far, but no go.
I got the same problem on a PC
I’m currently trying to help 2 people in the Mac forums as well, but we’re not having any luck with usual Mac fixes. I’m hoping we can find a solution to this.
I am also having this same problem, both in mac and in windows. After several reboots, and client restarts, along with rebooting my modem and router I was able to get in the game via the mac client. My windows client is still hung up at 100% getting a connection error. However, during the time it took to make this post it would seem that I was able to get in.
I’m stuck at 99% on the windows client.
This must be a known issue by now right? Never had this problem before.
Mine seems to have been fixed and is now working. I just let it open for a really long time, took about 10 minutes.
same problem, on the pc version. no problem patching the mac version earlier this afternoon. Came home to patch on my PC, the first 99% of the patch downloaded extremely fast, around 5mb/sec and now the last file is coming down at .20kb/sec….
and now I’m getting “connection errors detected”
I’ve had mine open for at least an hour at a time and the last file still won’t download.

no security software enabled.
I have been trying for 2 hours and its stuck at last file.
1kb file size – 0.00 kb/s speed
I have left it open over a hour, as admin, everything disabled etc.
Never had a patching problem.
there’s gotta be a way to fix this, right?
I’m also having this issue, it stopped at 99% and went down to 0.00 kb/sec.
I waited a bit and then restarted the client. Still stuck.
I repaired the client and it didn’t fix it.
I’m not using any security software.
My wife has the same exact PC and software packages as I do, and hers updated with no problems.

Same issue here, PC!
same issue here on PC. 1 file left downloading at 0.00kb/s. This is the first time I’ve had issues patching and been playing since beta. I turned off my anti-virus but still no luck.
Xirtam – 80 Ranger
Tyrhone – 80 Warrior
Same here. Windows 7, running as admin, exempted from anti-virus. Stuck at one file left with 0.0 kb/s download speed.
For any of you still experiencing this issue, I would recommend creating a technical support ticket so that we can further investigate this issue. The thread below should detail how to do so:

I ended up just letting it sit there for about 40 minutes and it finally finished. (windows)
Report sent. Please get this fixed soon!

Mine’s been sitting for over an hour and still no love.
I left mine running for four hours, nothing. . .
same issue here… stuck on last file…
now gives “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…”
okay, I guess it finished…
I left mine running for four hours, nothing. . .
Finally succeeded after doing the MSConfig trick and leaving the launcher open for ~5 minutes. . .
Mine is working now too.. I just left it running.
Mine’s been running for 6 hours. No luck…
Same here…4 1/2 hours, and nothing.

I had the same type of issues, patch got to 1 file to go and stopped with connection error and the request to retry. I entered my credentials and logged in, the game completed the install and logged me in. Try it and see if it works for you too.

Nada.
Anet…guys…c’mon now.
Aside from the terrible issues with the game, now the LAUNCHER is choking…

What is this trick? Could you explain for the rest of us?
I kept having that problem, but I kept getting “connection failure retrying” for a bit until it eventually worked

Hello everyone!
If you are currently unable to patch the final file, try restarting the client and allowing it to run for at least 10 minutes. At this point, the backup system should kick in and push the final file through to your system; if you receive the “Connection failure…retrying” message, don’t worry: this is the backup measure, and should download the last file after a few minutes.
If you continue to have trouble downloading the file, please contact support at https://en.support.guildwars2.com/.
Thank you for your patience!

Nope. Still nada. I’ve left it running for about a half hour now, and it’s still sitting at 0%, one file remaining like it has been all day.

Ok, I rebooted my whole computer again, and it finally started downloading and finished (but even then it was going at like 1k every ten seconds or so). Problem solved. . . ?

To hell with this, I’ve been dealing with this since noon today, and it’s now after 10:00 where I live. If you guys can’t get your LAUNCHER to work properly now, then it’s just not worth any more time or effort to try getting in only to stand around in LA, screaming for / running the same dungeons all day, or run a Dungeon that’ll disappear in 2 weeks…
I even re-installed the entire game, which took almost the entirety of the Kings – Blues game, all 270.000+ files, and it still locked up at 1. Yet again, some Pre-patch testing or ANY kind of QA would work wonders, I’m sure.

Getting the same issue here stuck in update… 7 more files to go QQ
I’m still stuck with 1 file remaining. I restarted the client and it is still stuck. I have no AV software on.
Bad patch I’m guessing on your end. Good luck fixing it.
I wanted to play some GW2 as I rarely play it (wanted to try out your extended story as that’s all I really do anymore)
It seems you broke your patcher though. I’ll come back when you fix it.

Did you guys reboot your computers? I hate rebooting, but after having this problem all day and trying everything else anyone mentioned, the first time I ran the launcher after rebooting it caught up well enough. It is a bit unforgivable that their launcher would force you to reboot to fix it though.

I had this problem at first; it would hang for several minutes then give a “connection error… retrying” message. Leaving it running when it showed that message fixed the problem in a few minutes for me, as Evan suggested.
(Not trying to put down those of you who this didn’t work for, that sucks. Just verifying that this does indeed fix some problems, so try it.)
Hey everyone. Thank you for following up! For those of you who are continuing to be affected by this issue, you can help us by following the steps below.
- Make sure you’ve created a shortcut to your Gw2.exe client.
- Open the shortcut properties (by right-clicking the icon and selecting ‘Properties’)
- In the target line, type -log so that your target looks something like this: C:\Games\Gw2\gw2.exe -log
- Hit ‘Ok,’ then run the client.
- (Assuming you are blocked when trying to download the last file) let the client run for about ten minutes, then close the client.
- In your Documents\Guild Wars 2 folder, you should now have a text file called ‘Gw2.log’. Please attach this file to a response, or send the file with a support ticket to customer support.
Please send us this information as soon as possible, as it will be of great aid to the programming team as they identify the root cause of the issue.
Thank you for your patience in the interim!
I had the download succeed on two computers, and fail in this fashion on the third. After many hours of it not downloading, I deleted the .dat file and copied it from a computer that had updated successfully. Took about 3 minutes to copy over a gigabit connection. Now the game works fine on all three machines.
If I add -log it says the target is invalid. So that is not a fix. This is in Vista64 on AMD quad core with 6 gigs of ram, any other ideas why I keep getting connection error?
Everything worked perfectly until the shutdown for the patch any and all problems are originating on your end.

As I indicated to you previously, the ‘Ask a Question’ tab will initiate the support request form, Richter. Best of luck to you. =)
Hey everyone! I’m happy to say that the programming team was able to implement a fix for this issue with last night’s build (thank you Katody for providing us with your log information so quickly!).
If you have not already done so, take the time to re-launch your client and allow it to run for at least ten minutes. It should eventually return the “connection failure…retrying” message. At this point, let it sit for another few minutes as the backup mechanism kicks in and downloads the missing file.
If you are still unable to patch the final file after giving the client time to re-connect, please take the time to generate a -log file and either post it here or submit a ticket to support.
Thanks, again, for your patience, and good hunting!
Will this also work for the Mac peeps who were also experiencing this issue?
