Hello all. I have a weird issue with using bill me later to purchase gems. On the 24th I purchased 10 bucks worth of gems and used paypals bill me later option. (I’m doing this to super boost my credit because I have no credit history, thusly no company will give me a card. I’m trying to get a new car, gotta have credit for that…..) Well I tried to buy more today and now the option for bill me later is gone. Has anyone had this problem before, and has a way to fix it? Or any report from Anet or NCsoft stating that they no longer allow this option? Google search has came up with nadda.

I thought bill me later was exclusively a Paypal thing, and that it had nothing to do with the merchant you use. I use Paypal often and keep seeing the bill me later thing regardless of which company I am sending money. I don’t see how ArenaNet would have any control over that. I suggest contacting Paypal. It might be a one-time only thing.

On a side note, I suggest saving cash and getting a cheap used car. You don’t have to have credit for a car. Save cash and buy it upfront and avoid monthly payments.

I have a good car now. But I’ve been saving on a down payment on a new gas friendly car. I have a helluva commute to work. But yeah it, I do think that some merchants can accept and decline payments from bill me later.

Even weirder was the fact that the first time I tried to buy gems using bill me later, it didnt work. I tried a day later and lo and behold it worked. Idk. Paypal and bill me later have some pretty terribad reviews. It works fine on ebay, and I do use it frequently to boost my score.

Ah you are correct. I searched around and it seems it is specific to the merchant. I was going to say that the bill me later thing has has some really negative comments, but I guess you already saw that. Keep in mind most of the ones happy with it probably don’t bother posting reviews.

It works pretty good. But when it was launched it was…….horrible. I think most the bad reviews came from that time frame. Mostly the christmas season when people were buying stuff for their kids and bought stuff through auction, went to pay and bill me later wasn’t showing up. I’d be pretty livid if such a thing happened to me, however I’d never use a credit line/card to buy major purchases anyway. That’s how people bury themselves in debt. Anyway before I get any more off topic, I’ll say thank you for the input and try again in a few hours or tomorrow. Dunno why it’s giving me such gruff every once in a while.

Had the same issue today on April 01, 2014. Bill Me Later transactions through Paypal are failing to process. I’ve used it extensively over the last year of the game to buy gems.

Though Bill Me Later is a PayPal service, it’s not available for every transaction or merchant (I’ve seen many cases where you can’t use it when you think you could, and many cases where you can use it and you’d think you couldn’t.) I’ve never had problems with the service and have had good experiences with it.

It’s possible Anet/Guild Wars 2 has lost its eligibility or approval for Bill Me Later transactions temporarily and that PayPal is rejecting them. Maybe some idiot did a charge back on their gem purchase? Enough chargebacks will cause any credit provider/vendor to reject a merchant.

You can’t use Bill Me Later to purchase Gems; it is not an accepted form of Payment. It never has been. You can use a credit/debit/bank account hooked up to your PayPal. Or you can use a credit/debit card by itself. Hope this helps :-)

The ability to “bill me later” is purely an issue with your paypal account. Nobody here can answer your question as to “why?” it’s no longer available to you.
