Performance Issues
You’re seeing normal things from this game, as an MMO. Lots of player controlled thing, huge particle effects amounts. You need to either or both, turn down CUP intense graphical effects like Reflections and shadows preferably to off or low and or overclock your processor. an i7 4770K hitting 4.2 GHz or 4.5 GHz if you can does decent enough in this game but still it tanks. I have the same hardware except it’s two r9 290Xs. We are in the same boat.
I dont get it though i have a friend who has a i7 4790k and 1 770(dont know the other parts) and they also record and and play on highest graphics and still get about 40 fps in zerg fights
1st of all, CrossfireX or SLi isn’t going to help in WvW zerg battles. They are CPU bound and not GPU bound.
2nd, the i7-4790K default clock is 14% faster over your 4770K. 4.0-4.4GHz vs 3.5-3.9GHz.
RIP City of Heroes
4790 also has the improved TIM/IHS which makes it almost like a lidded 4770 when it comes to oc.
also turn off shadows reflections and set character model limit to medium/high and quality to high. The difference between highest and high is huge.

Hi, I encountered some serious loss of fps over the past week. I restored my nvidia graphics drivers from the latest (337.88) to the previous (335.23) and it has seemed to help. I also did try the beta drivers (340.43) but they seemed much the same as the current one.
I am using a gtx 560 but maybe this will help you as well.
