Performance issue
Your CPU is a 3570K running at 3.4 GHz?
It’s K for overclocking, why is it only 3.4 GHz? This game does better with higher single core performance, so overclocking that beast is ideal. Just make sure you are using an aftermarket cooling solution first before you overclock, and research, research, and more research, on how to overclock. There are websites dedicated to overclocking your CPU.
Your graphics card has a bigger memory bus than my 980 Ti. But I got more shader cores tho. Honestly, your card is hardcore gaming ready imo. Rock on!
Do you have an SSD with that rig?

Hi and thanks for the reply!!
Unfortunaly at the time i assembled this PC, i didn’t know much about components etc… and i took a motherboard that limits overclock, so i can’t overclock it at more than 3.8ghz.
My VGA on the other hand has an overclock applied on his own, but i heard that this game is very cpu-based so i don’t think it will change so much.
I also play on a normal hdd 7200rpm.
However reading the system requirements of this game, i should be able to play it at costant 60fps with at least medium-high setting in theory, but it’s not like that unfortunatly.
Something is wrong Im afraid; I use Gigabyte r9 290 Windforce; 2500k @ 4.6ghz.
I get pretty much solid 60 fps in most places aside from lions arch and hot areas. I also play on a 7200rpm Caviar Black hd.
SSD will not help in any form on this game apart from loading times between maps. If you havent yet, use display driver uninstaller and install the latest AMD Crimson BETA driver. Also bear in mind that even at stock clocks the 2500k was able to still push 60fps in most places. When there is a zerg etc. The client cannot handle all the calculations and this is pushed all onto one core of your cpu, which is being over utilised anyway on Guild wars 2; thats normal for this game, and you will start seeing major fps drops. 60fps is what you SHOULD be getting in normal maps i.e. Frostgorge etc with that setup tbh. Do some benchmarks, compare yr system with similars and go from there.
Good luck!

So you bought an overclocking CPU, and then got a motherboard that is incapable of overclocking?
Okay. o.o’

Nope not quite true, because if you turn the camera to things that were not loaded in, it will stall the game until it loads in. An SSD removes that.

Unfortunatly as i already said, i assembled this PC some years ago and at the time i didn’t know anything about components and overclock, my fault.
However i should be able to play this game pretty well with stock frequencies, but seems like something’s wrong.
Common problem is that the GPU not uses all 16 PCIe lanes, reseating the card mostly

I will explain why I said this Loli…..
Assets for this game are loaded on map change. This is why there are several people with issues with the game hanging on loading a new map at the moment.
Besides decreasing loading times, an SSD WILL do nothing for you on this game. I have no problems with textures etc loading as you move the camera around, these calculations are done by the gpu. Many people would have problems as although getting more popular a lot of people install games onto a bigger mechanical drive.
An SSD has no effect on this whatsoever. Do not buy an SSD based on this. What one will do is (if the operating system is installed on it) decrease boot up times and Windows general speed. With Windows 10; its pretty fast anyway.
If a game is installed on it such as GW2 it will (apart from being a good source of wearing out the ssd with all the patching that happens) load initially quicker and load maps quicker. 7200rpm hds of any quality are not slow enough to cause a bottleneck in the rendering of assets which is done at map load.
To the op: Look at other things, the x16 pci express slot is a great suggestion of a place to start investigating; if you built the machine yourself. Also look at benchmarks for other games and compare results online. You will need cpu-z and gpu-z to get the screenshots Beldin mentioned above. Make sure they are running while in game.

Hi!
Here’s the pic, tell me if you notice something strange plz.
Seems all ok to me though.
Ok .. look at your CPU Speed .. its not even 2 GHz instead of 3.4 .. so you have
maybe a thermal problem. I would check the temperature of your CPU and
look if the fan is maybe not working correct.

Your CPU is only operating at 1.6ghz, while a game is running. That’s abnormal/bad.
Have you checked your Windows Power Options to make sure a “power saver” plan isnt active? Have you cleaned your CPU Heatsink since you built the PC years ago?
Ok so, i noticed something strange.
This is another screenshoot taken some minutes later without changing a thing.
As you can notice it says that cpu is operating at 3.8ghz (more or less).
The thing i noticed is that the cpu seems to go from 1.5-6ghz to 3.5-6-8ghz incostantly without an apparent motive.
That could explain why in some areas i go from 60 fps to 20-30fps even if there’s nothing “heavy” on screen.
I checked temperatures too, and they never go beyond 50-55 celsius degrees, that should be ok am i right?
I also checked settings in windows (i’m on win10) and the power saving option is set to max performance.
Maybe something’s wrong in the bios at this point :S

Yes i clean it once a month.
