Personal info risk, account name change
If your ticket is older than 7 days, post the ticket number up in this thread with a brief explanation. It definitely works, my friend had her account stolen for over a month and CS didn’t get back to her until I posted there.
Of course, getting back to her and doing a satisfactory job of fixing their mistake is completely two different things.
Well, I really hoped that a websearch of trp will provide negatives. I forgot to mention that there was a login attempt from region 81, Bangladesh. Not sure if this was done by proxy or something but someone out there knows my password and login. Naturally I’ve changed my password. Not sure how to say thing without disclosing too much information but with that occurred, I can’t have the name trp on public display.
I made this account a long time ago (4 years?) and I didn’t know the ID would be on public display and the weight of risk I was taking. But I thank you for your response @JustTrogdor.
@Pandaman, I’ll check that out promptly, thank you.

If someone unauthorized attempted to login to your account you should do the following:
- Scan your computer for virus/malware/key loggers
- Change the password for the email address attached to your account after you are sure your computer is clean.
- Contact support and tell them your account might have been compromised,
- Follow the instructions they send you.

Your Display Name has nothing to do with log-in. Whoever tried to compromise your account doesn’t need, or want, to know your Display Name. They are only interested in the email address and password associated with your game account. If you have used that email address anywhere else on the internet, such as emagazine sites, or other forums, etc., that can be where they found the email address. Same goes for your password.
This is why the Security articles expressly suggest you use an email address and password that has not been used anywhere before.
Your Display Name has no security risk associated with it. Good luck.

Thank you for your response. Now that you’ve mentioned it, is it possible to change both email and display name tied to the account? I made this account 4 years ago with little to no knowledge of net security or anything of the like.

You can change the email address associated with your account by submitting a support request. Once again, before doing so I strongly suggest you make sure your computer is secure since it seems you might have some vulnerabilities. If you are not sure that you can secure the email address attached to your account you can create a new email address from a different provider and contact support that way. Then again if your computer isn’t secure that might pose a problem, but not likely unless a hacker is following your every move which I doubt.
You won’t be able to change your display name as mentioned by myself and others it does not disclose any personal information about you and is not tied to any account security. Also it is unlikely you made the account 4 years ago since GW2 isn’t that old.

I’ve found nothing on mbam and kapersky. 4 years seems too much too, my memory doesn’t serve me well, it’s 2 and half years. I will be sending a support ticket for right away, thank you.
