Petty Griefing Behavior
You might try tabbing through your targets.
You can always take a screenshot, and send to the CS Team, though using the in-game Report system should suffice; just choose botting or one of the others, someone will investigate.
Good luck.
I think its time Anet put in a report option call " Griefing "
When I see afk’ers standing at the chest for a period of time, or the merchant spam thing or even mesmers putting portals on the chest.. I simply go back out of the middle and collect a few dogs and have them chase me near enough so that I can hit stealth mode without passing it on to others.. then just watch those players fall before looting the chest myself… eye for an eye is often more pleasurable imo.
Pretty sure if ANET were even thinking of doing anything about griefers/afk leechers they would of done it by now so only thing to do is tab the target area or click, click click until you get lucky and hit the chest target.

and your behaviour is as bad as afk leechers

As I said.. an eye for an eye… same at VW when the AFK leechers stand to the side walls and wait for the big chest to pop.. just drag a few terrogrifs or leechers across to sort them out and leave them to rot I say.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I am not inclined to respond to griefing by training Lurchers on the perpetrator (two wrongs don’t make a right). I will try to retain the presence of mind (and hopefully I will have time) to report for “botting” and include a screen shot.
Fortunately this does not happen often (though more often now than 6 months ago).
Report their abuse and include details, tell people to also report it. If you feel the need, video record it and post up online, and then send a link to customer support. Remember that if they paid for their account, they are going to lose it LOL.

The picture reminds me of Afro Samurai. “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”

You can bind a key to Targeting-Next Ally. This will highlight yellow items in turn as you push the key. Once you get the one you want you can interact with it. I use this option when people put two banners on top of each other. It should work in this situation.
ANet may give it to you.
Was going to simply follow up on my earlier post on this issue, but it seems to have vanished. So, here we go again.
Update: AHA! Someone found my original post and merged this in. A forum search using terms like “grief” or “hidden depths” or my user name did not result in any hits. Thanks.
I experience an intermittent problem with other players spawning a merchant on the large chest in the center of Silverwastes/Hidden Depths, then standing on the chest themselves.
The presence of the merchant precludes using a keyboard shortcut to interact with the chest. The presence of a PC precludes right-clicking/double-clicking on the chest.
This very effectively denies all other players access to the chest (which in turn renders this particular content effectively neuter, aka “useless”).
So:
1) I consider this a defect. Please fix this so that the chest remains accessible under these circumstances.
2) Additionally, a feature request: Please provide a mechanism for reporting players for griefing.
Thanks.

My suggestion for a fix:
If there are multiple items within range of “Interact”, then popup a choice list instead of the single “Interact”, “Loot”, “Open”, etc., for the object that’s on top. The “F” key would be bound to interact with the top item, and items below it would be accessed by clicking in the popup. Moving the mouse out of interact range would dismiss the popup (like it does now).
This will eliminate the issue acapela.8215 describes, the portal-to-death thing that seems to be showing up more and more, other ways players are trying to “redirect” the interact behavior, and the times when NPC’s even get in the way of interacting with other items in the environment.
This also has the advantage that if there is only a single item in range of “interact”, it behaves exactly the same way as it does now.

Have a key bound to “target next ally”. Will try this the next time it happens.
This has not occurred in any major way since my original post (there were a couple of attempts, but those were rapidly disrupted by Lurchers running through in the normal course of doing their thing… so: move away, deploy Shadow Refuge, wait a bit while the Lurchers collect the perpetrator(s)… problem solved).
