Hey all im new to GW2, and i know that some macros and third party programs are not aloud, now i want to know what this means? I got a new keyboard and mouse for christmas both have “third party” macro software that i havent a clue how to actually use, im a wee bit worried it might be detected and get me banned.

But another thing is the whole macro thing, i know “afk / botting” macros are completely against the rules, understood completely. but would a key chain thing be visable.. Say hit 1 to activate 1 then 2 then 3 after the cooldown interval. This doesnt speed up gameplay at all, you still have to wait for the cooldown. But it means less key mashing. Whats the veiws on these?.

There was a Anet post saying something along the lines of “1 key press = 1 action”. Anything else than that might not be safe :p

Well thats fine, i dont see the problem with macros personaly as long as their not used to bot or pvp. But ill keep off the macros just to be safe.

the One Button rule -each macro button can use only one ability each time you press the button. You can code this so that it will use a different ability each and every time you press it (and on a different target!), but you can’t press the button once and, for example, have it cast all 5 self buffs on you.

Does this seem similar towhat you described Eeeee?, if so, would that be an ok thing to go on with, “not the have 5 bufs go up at once” but the one spell each hit.

Do you think button mashing wildly to avoid death could be picked up as a macro?
Also as an elementalist you can cast the arcane spells during a channel of firestorm, actually you can cast them at the same time as doing anything else actually. While reviving someone. While getting a skill point. Is this a bug? Do you think this would be considered doing a macro?

so when are they gonna start banning everybody with an mmo mouse or keyboard with programmable buttons…i have both….dont really bother setting up the macro’s but thats more out of lazyness then anything……

I think they should either allow it, or block the use of hardware they find unacceptable…..that would go over very well…..

I don’t have the intelligence to use a macro they current interface is complex enough for me to get by on. and I tried using a multi button mouse, not even control in these hands for that shizzle.

*Seriously off topic. I think I just “necro’d” this thread. I only found out what that was about an hour after posting here when a thread got closed because i posted on it and it was six days old. Most humble apologies for the ‘necro’ I am still very much a noob with regards to GW2. Any idea what sort of time frame is considered necro’ing?

Next stop will be to actually go to the house of the player and see if he didn’t build a robot to hit the keyboard for him ? Some stuff can’t be checked. We can’t uses a macro to do skill 1,2,5,8 in sequence with one push of a button ? How can the game know who actually pushed the button ?
