Dear GW2 team,
I reallized what is weird for me with fps/mouse movement. The game smoothing out the mouse (look) movement, which is to me very annoying, it feels like the system is slow to react. I like immediate mouse movement and no need to smoothen it out for me.
Could you please give us an option to turn off mouse smoothing, mouse acceleration, etc?
Would be amazingly grateful!

I think you might be falling for an optical illusion that is caused by playing in the 3rd person.
Try turning Vsync OFF if it is on, this is one of the most common causes of mouse lag.
If your talking about the delay when you first look around a freshly loaded zone, its probably your hard drive causing a momentary bottleneck and killing your framerate, giving you a false-positive when it comes to mouse lag.

Turning off Vsync definitly helps, i halso have pimped my rotationspeed of the camera to full.
But i have to agree with Hope, that it still feels a bit wobbly, i am used to do quick 180° turns while jumping to see whats going on, or even to use my skills which give me a backdrift as evasive manouver.
Well i somehow get used to it, but still.

@RocketPuppy: As you see from Zefream’s reply as well we don’t have graph issue, we play MMOs for years (and fps) we know what we talking about. This is not a bug or graph related issue, its merely mouse handling.
Vsync off just introduce a lot of screen lines as page buffering and loading the screen goes “out of synch” (not a perfect explanation of vsynch, sorry for that). Since I got a good vga I don’t really need this option, I play the game with 40+ fps. Useful option if you got lot of fps lag or low fps, used it in the past, but not for years.
Please, give us mouse smoothing option so we can turn this off, and as Zefram perfectly put it, get rid of the wobbly screen move.

It’s no optical illusion, the game does use mouse smoothing, usually i kinda dislike it but thats more in a FPs.In mmo kind games i dont have a problem with it,but indeed it would be great for other people to disable this setting if possible since it can be quite annoying if you dont like it.
@HOPE, You dont use vsync when you have a low fps or when you lag,you do the quite opposite actually……you use vsync when your fps is mostly higher then your refreshrate >60+fps to have stable gameplay. And Vsync is there to Remove the tearing instead of create it,if the problem worsenes, then you shouldnt be using vsync at all since you cant reach the fps that matches your refreshrate.

You can use the ‘’look backward’’ and the ‘’face forward’’ keys (dont remember the exact names sry) for quick behind looks. Problem is, with the look behind key you can’t change direction on the fly by pressing the mouse 2/move key so you still need to use the mouse to do a 180 screen pan and then you can change direction instantly or do a180 jump shot/hit.

Yes, the ‘lag’ in turning is annoying. Please fix!

The ‘lag’ in moving the camera is also affected by your computers performance along with input delay of your hardware. This is most likely something on your end as I don’t suffer from any ‘lag’ when I turn my camera.

Yes, more fps makes the lag less apparant, but in games like Quake, Battlefield, Skyrim, the input feels direct, where as in GW2 it does not.
FPS problems should make it choppy, not laggy.

Specifically this is not fps related input lag as even on 120fps it’s just as noticeable. Coming from a QuakeWorld background with 200hz CRT’s I notice this sort of thing immediately – actually one of my only gripes with the game.
It’s mouse smoothing based lag created by adding interpolated frames.

I agree, but in this instance I believe the lag comes from the game removing the choppy to artificially make it smooth thus adding the ‘lag’. Remove the choppy factor (Higher FPS) and it will reduce the amount of artificial smoothing.

Put an option to remove this horrible mouse smoothing please.
So everyone will be happy.

Windowed fullscreen eliminates sticky mouse.

Yeah, the mouse lag is pretty bad in this game. I never use vsync. All my other games seem very responsive in comparison.
I’m sure stuff like that will be ironed out in time, but it’s pretty low on the priorities, I’m sure.
I’d personally be happy to let them keep the technical issues for the moment if they can actually get all the events, skill points, and other world attributes unbugged.

This is not due to peoples PC having lackluster performance; getting tired of people with no clue what they are talking about chime in on peoples threads saying “oh it’s gotta be your PC cuz I don’t have that issue!” well guess what you do actually, you just don’t notice it or don’t care.
The game uses mouse smoothing/interpolation. End of story. This should be an option that the user can disable/enable as it does not cause an advantage having it set off.
Laggy mouse is laggy.

I feel like im doped or something, all movement is in slowmotion with this smoothing

This is the first thing you used to turn off when you played Counter-Strike, and most games don’t have it or able to turn it off. For me personally this was a big factor why I decided to give MoP a try. GW2 PvP with smoothing is just unbearable for me, personal preference of course – but it’s not, I can’t switch it off!!!!
ps. Sorry if this was fixed already
