Unfortunately…join the club. Tons of people with high end computers who never used to crash are now crashing all the time since HoT was released. I don’t think Anet is really saying much about it. Hopefully that means they are busy working on it. Hoping.

If this was a gem store issue it would have been fixed over night.

Hey ArenaNet, fix the crashes and i will promise to buy gems.

Having the same crashes, its even more often on the new maps which makes doing the meta events extremely annoying. One example, in auric basin i complete most of the events on a map without a crash, then Octovine event starts and i crash, get back into the same map and i crashed 2 seconds again after the 4 vines died. (0 crash for 1 hour then 2 in 15 minutes)

I have an i5 2500k at clocked at 4.3ghz

for reference i was without a crash 2 hours and 40 minutes which i spent in lions arch, cursed shore and mad king’s labyrinth, then i went to Verdant Brink and crashed instantly.

This applys to both nvidia and radion video cards… (mostly nvidia though it seems) and will crash your game every 5-10 minutes depending on how much memory you have on your pc and on your gpu.

AT THE MOMENT, the devs have refused to even ACKNOWLEDGE that this is a real bug, telling people to update from windows 32 to windows 64 (even though the client is only 32 bit)… telling people to REMOVE memory from their pc or even that they just needed to upgrade their pc (even if they have been playing the game fine for years up until the HoT update).

My wife got a semi hateful reply that told her this.. and also referred her to a post from 2 years ago telling her to remove ram from her pc… how the hell that is supposed to help.. i dunno

ANYWAY… please bump these posts and MAYBE we will get a reply on them as to when it is being fixed.. or if they are at least going to see it as a real bug and not our problem.

I have no problems with my Radeon R9 280x with character model limit and quality
set to medium.

Also the “leaks” are called “memory fragmentation” and its a problem how C++
and i think nearly every programming language allocates and frees memory.

Oh .. and you know that a 32-Bit programm can use 4 GB under Win64 but only
2 GB under Win32 ? For that reason i upgraded to Vista-64 already 8 years ago

Strangely, I have a friend who uses a non-gaming laptop w/ much lower specs, and doesn’t crash at all (averaging 30 fps on medium). On the other hand, I’m using a gaming desktop that runs the game on high averaging 60-70 fps. This has been so frustrating that I’m not sure if I plan on sticking around much longer.

I am thinking asking ANet for a refund on HoT purchase actually.

I’ve been playing gw2 foe year now. And never had such problem. But after HoT release every meta event ends with crash to desktop, usually just before boss’s death. So it’s very frustrating. Hope they’ll fix this soon.

I’m having the exact same crash problem. For me it started with the update yesterday. My system is 7 64 bit with 10 gigs of ram and a 2 gig Radeon. The strange thing is that I have no problems playing my secondary acct which is non HoT. The crashing seems only to happen when I play my Main acct which is HoT.

your friend might be using lower res textures, animation, char count which would migrate the problem much longer.

On 64 bit windows, 32bit apps complied with large address aware flag get the entire 4GB address space where as the default is really around 2-3 GB.

Hmmm, I dont know if memory speeds matters at all with these crashes but oh well.
