GW2 does not use that port number. Nor are those addresses registered to NCSoft or ArenaNet. I would not open it.
You may want to also check for Viruses if you are getting hit like that. Some of those addresses are registered in China and Russia.

I’m just going to chime in and both agree and confirm that port 49783 is not affiliated with NCSOFT or ArenaNet. I would definitely give your system a once over with an anti-virus software of your choice to check for any potential malware or viruses.

Thank you for the replies, however, I do feel the need to clear the confusion further here.
1. My system is clean as a whistle. It goes under proper scanning once a month or whenever I suspect something out of the ordinary. So rule out any virus / malware etc.
2. My Firewall has strict rules. Anything that is trying to utilize the internet or utilize it from outside, I will find out.
3. As I mentioned in the first post. This activity ONLY goes on when Guild Wars 2 is active. I could be surfing for an hour and not get a single ‘query’. But these queries only happen when Guild Wars 2 is active, which means I’m 100% certain that it is related to Guild Wars 2.
Basically, if it were a virus / trojan / malware etc. Then the activity would go on even if Guild Wars 2 is closed and not running. But since it doesn’t, it’s common sense to rule it out. Unless it is being suggested that GW2 comes with malware content itself?
4. I understand it’s not a port that is directly used by Guild Wars 2. But I do think it is a port that is indirectly used by Guild Wars 2 by for example being a standard in a communication system.
Let me further clear out on what I mean in point 4. My theory is that all these IPs are players in the game currently in my “view” of the system and that the port mentioned is a basic handshake protocol. Simply put like a ‘nudge’ , ‘wave’ to tell others it’s there. Which would make further sense.
My main issue was mainly if someone knew more regarding this port cause the information I found by goggling it was very vague and this is not entirely my area of expertise. So I was hoping someone in this area would be more savvy than I am and enlighten me with some proper information on my concern.
But I do believe these are harmless and not related to any lag issues I have right now and since the game still runs with these queries being blocked, then it means it doesn’t really matter.

Nope, other players will not communicate directly with you. All traffic goes through the server.
Ports, especially those over 1024 are considered “unprivileged”. They can be used for anything. So one port isn’t “safe”, while another is “dangerous”. Some well known exploits have used specific ports in the past, but doesn’t make the port itself bad.
GW2 will use 80, 443, 6112 and 6600.
