Is there a way to save my account of I accidently (while opening my email account on tablet I could not see emails fully attached) opened a phishing link, entered my serial code, all basic info and possibly my password?

I know, I’m a moron, any help for morons like me?

You’re not a moron and it good you came here to ask for help!

Have you changed your email password and your game password? If not do that now.

Also keep an eye on your email and your account here to check if you see any IP addresses trying to log in.

Scan you pc/laptop for keyloggers and such.

And you might want to talk to support about changing your email address you use with the game (only support can change that for you but I feel this is the safest way, choose an email you use only for the game so there will be less chance of it happening again)

Check this too. Lot’s of tips!

wouldn’t giving my serial number be a bigger problem than just giving passwords? cause this is what I’m worried about. I already experienced phishing in the past, but never was so stupid to give serial numbers…

It can be a problem if someone uses it to talk with support to try an claim your account as their own. But there is no way of undoing giving the code.

Support however does not need a serial to establish ownership of the game. If a dispute does come up, there are lots of things support can ask you to see that the account is yours.
That is also why you should take the steps to secure your account.

Did you buy a physical copy of the game or did you get your serial via your email? If it’s the first, you could make a picture of your card with the serial on it if it comes to proving it’s yours.

I am certain though that all will be fine!

I’ve got a digital copy, but I’ve got a scan of the serial code itself. So at least this is fine for now.

The fact that they do indeed have your serial number would more or less make it impossible to protect against it. Seeing as they have all the information they need in order to “regain” access to “their” account should you change password.

The best thing you can do is contact support and explain the situation and hope for the best.

Where do I submit requests for changing emails?

Top of the page under the support button.

If you have already contacted them about the phishing, use the same ticket (reply to one of the emails support sent you) to request the new email.

And what do you mean “a scan”? If you bought a digital copy you should have an email with the code.

General note about emails from ArenaNet/GW2 : THe ONLY time they contact you without you contacting them first will be in case of chat violations. The email will have NO links to click. If they contact you first for any other reason it or with an email with links it’s a phish.

Anyway, good hunting!

I would see if it’s possible for support to offer you a new serial or something and mark your existing one as invalid. I suspect such a process, if they have one, isn’t quite that straightforward, but the way I see it doing something like that would keep whomever you gave out your serial number to from trying to claim your account as theirs much better than just changing emails/password combinations.

Good idea, but impossible. Support does not give out lost serials or new ones. Once a serial is lost, it’s lost.
That is why support has other ways of checking who an account belongs too.
Best option here is still to secure the pc/laptop and change the email associated with the game.
