Q:
Question about data limit from ISP
I would be less worried about data limits on sat broadband. Sat Broadband is probably the worse choice you can make apart from 3g Broadband when it comes to gaming.
Sure you’ll get 10mbps but you’ll also get the terrible latencies (lag) along with it.
you’ll probably get a better gaming service from the 1mbps broadband then you would 10mbps Sat Broadband.

the 1mbps is actually wireless DSL…upload speeds of .30mbs. i dont think gw2 is even playable.
well sat broadband have really high latencies.
on your current connection are you able to ping google.com
start > run > cmd.exe
ping google.com

About the 10GB limit I just checked with NetMeter. 1 hour of GW2 (farming, DE) = 21MB. I wasn’t doing anything else with my internet connection. So 10GB is more than enough. You’d better be careful though (specially with things like youtube, internet webcams,… people often use those without realizing that they’re in fact downloading datas), 10GB/month is extremely low. You can use a software like NetMeter to monitor how much you’re downloading/uploading.

With my current 1mbps wireless DSL:
Ping google.com statistics:
Packets: Sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 26ms, Maximum = 42ms, Average = 34ms
My wireless DSL company has an option of going to 2mbps, but its about $75 a month. I’m in a rural area, but come on, its not THAT rural.
So do I have a viable option between the “new” dishnetwork satellite broadband and my current wireless DSL? Or am I SOL for gaming?
