Question about linking accounts...

Okay, so I’ve been playing since GW1, though I never got EotN. I never finished the campaigns either. Recently, I’ve been thinking I should go back and finish those campaigns, and while I’m at it, get EotN so I can grab some Hall of Monuments goodies.

I also just realized that I played GW1 using my friend’s account (since it was mostly to try the game, but I liked it and kept using it).

So here’s my question: if I get EotN, can I still link the two accounts even though it’s a different e-mail and password? Or do I have to get GW1 and all the expansion packs and start over using the same e-mail and password that I have for GW2?

I mean, I wouldn’t really mind if I had to start fresh in GW1, since my girlfriend is obsessed with GW2 and never got a chance to play the first one. I’d at least have someone to campaign with. I’m just wondering if it’s possible to link GW1 and GW2 even though they use a different e-mail and password.

Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

It is against the ToS to use another person’s account, so you might want to avoid the possibility of an account ban.

As for linking, there is no stipulation or need to have the same email account associated with the games. Once linked, though, the Account Name (email address) becomes the same for both, as well as the password.

Good luck.

Ever the helpful, friendly neighborhood Cedo-man!

But yeah, I definitely don’t want to run the risk of getting banned. I certainly didn’t steal the account or anything. He legitimately gave me his e-mail and password and said “try it out, have fun!” I did just that, and ended up playing a LOT with the paragon I made. So when GW2 was announced, I was MORE than convinced that I needed an account for my own.

That said, would it simply be better to just get GW1 (all expansions included) for myself and register it under my GW2 account info?

i don’t think you can. I actually played gw2 before i bought gw and it seems that i have to register an account with ncsoft before i could play. Mind, it was late and i was sleepy so i didn’t really bother asking too much question at the time, so i’m not quite sure if what i did was correct, though i did get to play the game. i still haven’t link my accounts yet so not quite sure what will happened after

Yes, it would be best to have your own account, then you would never have to worry or have problems should you need assistance from CS.

It is not necessary to register your account(s) with NCMA; in fact, it is not possible to do so with a Guild Wars 2 account. You can register your Guild Wars (One) accounts, though, if you so desire.
