Hey people! I am having troubles with using Chrome while playing GW2. There will be random fps drops randomly when I play. It goes from my usual 15-20 fps down to about 8 fps. Sometimes it happens very often and other times my client can run for hours until it finally happens. I find that if I alt+tab more often then the chance of the fps dropping is higher. I use Firefox without any troubles but I can’t watch youtube videos on it since it gives lots of static. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Thanks!

Modern browsers are GPU aware and will use them. But I run AdBlock and Disconect which tends to keep unwanted video ads from running on tabs I have up.

What tabs do you normally have up?

Mostly google and youtube things. I also use adblocker as well.

I remember years ago i had that problem in EverQuest 2 when i had YouTube Videos
in the background .. even when they were stopped the FlashPlayer simply brought
my FPS down.

So i would try just to close all pages with flashat least to check if its maybe the same
old problem again.

Else .. try FireFox or Opera und look what happens.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Chrome is a gigantic RAM hog. Whats your system specifications?

CPU,GPU,OS and RAM, most importantly.

Since you say Firefox doesn’t cause problems,im willing to bet it’s coming down to limited RAM.

I’m unsure what you mean when you say Firefox “Gives lots of static”..I’ve never heard or seen that.

“Youtube doesn’t use flash anymore.”

Actually, they do – you can force Youtube to use Flash with a Firefox addon. I had to do this for an elderly couple so they could still watch Youtube videos on their ancient desktop. It was simply too slow to handle HTML5.
