Ok so this is still happening…
Black screen with cursor and back ground music.. every 5-30 minutes randomly.. I have to close the game and re-open to resume playing.
Everything else works fine, other games work perfectly (but I want to play this game >:O )
it is only the game client that goes black, the rest of the PC is perfectly fine.
I’ve checked my temperatures of CPU, GPU ect. it is not an overheating issue.
I’ve updated all drivers on my GTX 770 graphics card, even tried beta drivers, and clean re-install of drivers.
I’ve turned off firewall
I’ve adjusted settings in Nvidia control panel
I’ve run as administrator
I’ve changed compatability of gw2.exe
I’ve tried re-installing
I’ve tried installing from a hard drive and updating
I’ve tried repairing
I’ve tried changing settings in game to lower / different qualities
I’ve checked my ISP and made sure everything is fine .. which it is.
I am beginning to think this is not a problem on my end… please find attached, error report thingo
the program always pops up with a “are you sure you want to run this?” administrator message, which I always press yes to. .. don’t know if that means anything.
Official Help would be appreciated since I’ve sent in a support ticket twice already about this issue!

Looks like you may have a faulty memory stick check your ram with a good memory test app like Memtest86. You will have to burn this app to a cd then change your boot sequence to boot from cd and let this app test your memory in your PC. Do not use the windows rem test or some third party test app that runs in windows they are not as affective as a stand alone app.

Hi Pikachews – Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting directly to the modem via Ethernet cable? If you have a router/modem combo, check to see if you have an option to disable the SPI Firewall as this is usually the culprit to this kind of issue. If you have a Netgear router, you may need to Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection.
Beyond this, I’d recommend trying the client in Windowed Mode. This should allow the game to bypass whatever resolution was picked and from there, you can reset it to full screen in the correct resolution. To do this:
First, please navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files(x86)\Guild Wars 2.
1. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Windowed.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
4. Edit the “Target” line to include -windowed at the end.
Note: Please make sure -windowed is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: " C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" -windowed
Incorrectly Formatted Example: " C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -windowed "
5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again by using this new shortcut.

I had the same problem since saturday last week, however I talked with Tech support from Anet, netgear and my ISP, and eventually what seemed to fix my issue was either of the following:
-reinstall of avast as it was an older version apparently
-disabling a few autostartup programs i MSconfig I had running like adobe updaters and akami netsession interface which I had no idea it was still there after uninstall.
-enabling default DMZ server on my netgear router.
I can’t fully say if it worked or not as I’ve had gaming sessions over 9 hours before saturday last week before black screens but so far I’ve successfully played a good 6 hours at max without any black screen.

I had this issue. Swapping to windowed full screen seem to correct it for some odd reason. Will report if it is still happening.

Okay, I had this problem as well, I found out that the NetGear D63000 router is the causes of this problem, to stop the problem you must:
- go to ‘www.routerlogin.net’
-put in password ‘admin’ ‘password’
-go to Setup> WAN Setup
- tick ‘Disable Port Scan and DdoS Protection’
- Un-tick ’ Disable IGMP Proxying’
- Then reset reboot the router and you should be fine.
I’ve played for about 5 days now without any problem.

Just a quick update that Vuziiness Suggestion appears to have worked! I have been playing for about an hour now without any black screens, I will update again if the problem persists, but for now seems to be solved, THANK YOU!
