Really really tired of my client crashing
I feel the same way. I keep getting either a ‘lockedRect.pBits’ crash or ‘dstbits’ error message. I have done a google search and the first hit is GW2 issues from a year ago. My iMac is very new, so no issues there. I set my graphic settings to low for everything and it still crashes. I have missed two chests the the past 3 days. When is the Mac client going to be stable? When are they going to resolve programming issues from a year ago?
Yup. I have the currently-shipping iMac model, with maxed RAM and the highest graphics chipset available.
Could you please post the crash log to the http://pastebin.com please? It may be possible to figure out what is the cause of the crash.
The file you are looking for is called “ArenaNet.log” and you can find it in
(If this path shows up on multiple lines, it should be all one line)
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2.
I’d be willing to provide it to ArenaNet.
I understand that you feel apprehensive about posting a file that may contain some private information, but there are no big secrets in it – it contains your internal IP address, computer specs, date/time when the crash occurred and error data.
You can edit the contents of the file (it can be opened in TextEdit or Notepad on Windows) and post what you feel comfortable. You can also create a support ticket with ANet if you have not done so.
loclay, if you are uncomfortable doing that then you can always submit a ticket to ANet but if you take the time to look through Felicja’s post from the last year I think you will find that she is an incredibly dependable and active forum member.
ps ANet, why haven’t you hired her yet? Seriously though.
Cool. Alright. You’ve convinced me.
Should I delete the file, trigger a fresh crash, and send the file? I’ve run for several days without crashing and don’t know if the crashes have been pushed out of the log.
Starting with the patch today, it looks like an Out Of Memory error causing the frequent crashes, reading through the error log.

I’m crashing a lot as of the update March 18th, and it’s not a memory problem. [Edit: Not saying an out of memory problem isn’t causing a crash, just that I’m crashing with plenty of free memory as well.]
Pulling out some notes from the error log:

My game is now unplayable. No error message of any sort… nothing. The game force quotes itself before i can do anything.

I’m pretty patient while companies get their act together. I know things take time in organizations. But… I’m sick of the Mac client crashing all the time. Any time there are around 50 people in the same general space, I’m very likely to have a crash. Turning down graphics settings seems to help lessen the effect, but not always.
I play this game for WvW and big open world living story events, both of which are highly susceptible to this problem. I also play it for world exploration and the prettiness of it all, which is diminished by tuning my graphics down.
For my part, no more gem purchases until the situation improves. I don’t expect this to make a big difference to you, anet; I can’t make you get your act together and move corporate mountains to respect your Mac-using customers… but I haven’t SEEN you do anything other than provide little snippets of hope that some good news is on the way. I’m tired of the false hope, and since I have no control over your internal disfunction around serving your customers better, my own spending on this game is something I WILL control, and until I have a playable client: not another dime from me.
I’m glad somebody agrees with me. I’ve reserved my money to spend on games for ESO for the time being. No more on this game.

+1, gw2 is unplayable now, that’s really amazing, ArenaNet have 567 days to improve the BETA!!! mac client, in addition any post of a moderator in a topic of this problem(like we are working on it or something), i can only draw a conclusion or feeling, mac users don’t matter the same like windows users or problems like this had long been solved.
i agree with loclay, the same for my part no more gem purchases until a stable solution
The quick fix seemed to work, for a while. But after one hour, I tried to WP to gendarren and the game force quite itself on me. no error message at all either.

This is a joke there are no error messages so if anet checks those nothing will happen as they do anyway not care for mac users, the game crashes the whole system which requires to reboot.

Hi Queen, Been getting the same thing. Been posting here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Client-Crashing-2/page/6#post3782794
about it since update. Hot fix didn’t work for me either. Maybe head to that post (has Anet replies) and add your voice … maybe PM about it too. I would like to see this fixed fairly soon.
Was deliberately taking a break this week to relax and game a bit ….!
If anyone else is still having problems after hot fix, i advise heading to abovementioned thread and add your voice there.
Hi Ravenger yes I posted there as well.
My game just force quite itself on me twice in two hours. I played for an hour and a half and I thought it was fine, then bam desktop with no error message. Second time I was just in gendarren selling on TP, after 20 minutes, it force quite itself.

in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: KeairaPhoenix.6123
The problem is that you’re using a Mac. I’m not trolling, I have the same issue.
Isn’t it funny how there’s not even a Mac tech support anymore? How there’s no listing of optimal software that we should be updated to in order to have a best possible user experience that’s not 2 years old?
They don’t seem to be supporting us or our “beta” anymore.
