Recent FPS drop
I reinstalled gw2, same problem is still here.. I saw in some thread about reseating RAM and GPU so I will try that, hopefully it gets fixed..
Reseating didnt fix it.. Anyone got any idea what is causing this? I tried all compatability modes, 32 vs 64 bit client, and the FPS is still low..
Set priority to high in TM, reinstalled drivers, still nothing.
Please, just to rule things out, try a stresstest of your ram with memtest86.
First check if your GPU runs @x16 and your CPU at max speed when GW2 is running
and post an image like this one :

Your CPU runs at 798 MHz instead of 3.3 GHz, so there is the problem. Now check
the temperatures of your CPU, and take a look at your CPU fan if it is still working.

The fan is working, temp is at 90F/32C, so I presume I need to replace it?
Wow that CPU thermal throttling!! I suggest you re-paste your CPU cooler and clean out the fans and cooling fins of dust bunnies. At least clean the fans and cooling fins.
MSI GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X 2xSLI 2025 / 11016 MHz, liquid cooling custom loop.
Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB. HTC Vive.
Why would it thermal throttle? The temps are around 30C, the mobo has no reason to lower the performance of the CPU around those temps (If I have an adqequate understanding of what thermal throttling is..)

I would maybe first reset my BIOS to default, and else google if that is a known
problem with your motherboard.

Have you messed with your Windows Power Options? You might have set a powersaving profile that wont let your CPU hit full clock speeds.
I’ve not installed anything, played with any setting for at least 3 days before things went wrong. I tried reseating the processor but to no luck, BIOS reset didnt do anything. I’m gonna have it replaced on Monday, I’ve got the receipt and garauntee still, thanks to all of you guys for your help, its really appreciated!

it’s happening for me since the last update.
i don’t see how a software update can affect my hardware, which i’ve not changed in over a year.
Same thing happening for me too, max settings 60 fps before patch, now I’m lucky to get above 10 in dense areas. And changing the graphics settings doesn’t change my fps at all, all other games are still running perfectly fine.

I guess you also don’t even have the same problem like the TE, so you better create
your own thread to avoid confusion here, and also please first post a screenshot
with GPU-z and CPU-z in front of GW2 running in the background.

A bit of an update, I went into my BIOS and saw that the processor multipliers were set to 8 so I put them up to 33 and now it runs at 3.3 GHz and everything is smooth, I’m still confused with what caused the multipliers to go down all of a sudden and will still take the CPU to the place I bought it from just in case..
Yeah .. those are questions where you mostly never find the answer
However .. good that all is fine now
