Hi Weebitt – To download the Guild Wars 2 installer, please follow the instructions listed on: http://support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8981 or by following the instructions below:
1. Log into your Guild Wars 2 Account page to download the client. (https://account.guildwars2.com)
If you are using Internet Explorer, please select Save. Do not select Run.
If you are using Google Chrome, Gw2Setup.exe will appear in your Downloads folder after clicking Download. Please do not select Run.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox, please select Save File.
2. Once the download is complete, double click the file GW2Setup.exe to start the installation process.
3. Click the red Install Guild Wars 2 button.
4. Select an installation path to install the game to.
(We recommend creating a folder on your C:\ drive for the file. Example: C:\Games\Guild Wars 2.)
5. Allow the game to patch the necessary information from our file servers.
Once completed, click “Play Now” and you should be taken to the login screen for Guild Wars 2. As long as you reach this screen, you’re patched and ready to play!
I double click the GW2Setup.exe get a pop up to “run or cancel” and I hit run and the launch screen pops up and starts to download and I it almost immediately says “download fails” I have Windows7.
AVG firwall was blocking everything, duh! I have reinstalled game and everything seems to be working. Thanks.
REMEMBER TO CLOSE THE FIREWALL, PEOPLE!
Sorry for the necro here — I likewise have come to my wits end on getting the TP to load and though Support said a reinstall is a very last resort thing, I may be at that point.
- Should I uninstall first, or could I install a second client in a new folder and play from that to test whether it fixes my issue?
- Do I need to worry about moving my saved screenshots out of the default folder?
- Are there any other pitfalls for which I should watch out? (I have taken screenshots of my keybinds and other settings, but what else might get wiped?)
