Can someone please explain to me how a name that gets reported actually makes it through the ‘Support Team’ when its pretty clear that its a roleplaying name and nothing more.
Nightstalker Jebus WAS the name of my thief that I’ve had since 3 days before launch but now all of a sudden I have to change it. Can I get some freaking answers because I am beyond upset…

At least this post’s politer.

Simple, someone reported it and the agent who reviewed it agreed. There are two rules from the naming policy that was violated, “Reference religious or historical figures” and “Use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules”.

It doesn’t matter if it got by the name filter or if you had it since forever, all it takes is one person to be upset about it and file a report and than it takes whoever processes that to agree.

You can always submit a ticket to fight it but it’s a pretty clear violation.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

It isn’t misspelled or has nothing to do with religion. Jebus-a pre-Israelite tribe living in the hill-country of Canaan. They fought only during the night, hence the Nightstalker surname…give me a break.

The religious connection is there. I would suggest you appeal if you feel wronged, but remember that it’s ultimately Anet’s decision.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Your name was changed because it closely resembles that of a religious figure. While I agree that sometimes there are names that do not intend to be offensive, if they are borderline, GMs are forced to to make a judgement call. Given the name of your past characters, and the number of infractions for their character names, the GM made the correct decision to change your character name.

If you would like to appeal your character rename, please contact Customer Support by opening a support ticket.
