Rubberbanding/Major Lag Issues
The odds of it having something to do with the patch/update are slim to none. Run pingplotter when you are having these issues and that will show you where the problem is. Internet “speeds” are kind of irrelevant unless you have less than a 1.5mb connection or are trying to stream other content or other computers while you are playing. It is the connection “quality” that is more important. Depending on where you are and which server you are connected to, your connection may pass through 8-12 different nodes. These nodes are owned by multiple companies and many times not controlled by your ISP or Anet. An issue at any one of the nodes can cause the issues you are having, pingplotter will show you each node and give you an idea of who controls/operates them.
Thanks for the response. I grabbed the pingplotter program as suggested and it appears the issue is coming from some company out of Dallas? Here “ae-25-0.ear1.Dallas1.Level3.net” … that’s the name it listed, so am I just screwed or is there a way to bypass it? The game is basically unplayable for me right now and it’s only gotten worse. I’ve been getting disconnected consistently whenever I try to do anything with a lot of other players around. If I’m not disconnecting, I’m freezing up for sometimes up to a minute or longer. Even doing small things, by myself with no one around, like putting items in my guild hall treasury I’ll freeze up briefly. It’s incredibly frustrating and I’ve no idea how to fix it(or if I even can), I’m not very tech savvy when it comes to this kind of stuff lol.
That hop is one of the major hubs in the Dallas area, there are programs and tools that can optimize your route. Unfortunately, any path will most likely need to pass through that one. You can try contacting your ISP and provide them the pingplotter results, they have the ability to contact that provider or you can try to contact Level3 yourself. Google them for contact information.
