Hey i’ve been having a problem with screen blackouts. I can still pop up the options menu even though it doesn’t respond and can hear faint ambient game background noise but nothing else. I’m 100% sure gw2 is going black and not my comp simply because i can Alt+Tab to desktop and use my comp as normal.

I updated the drivers, fixed the game client, changed from native to subsample and even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The screen blackouts STILL happen. At this point i have no clue as to what the problem is. All i know is that the issue came soon after the latest living world update and continues still.
The rest of my comp and all it’s uses work just fine, even when playing other games.
I do not use any 3rd party software programs such as dps meters, reshade, etc.

If it’s a case of packet loss how do u fix it? Sometimes gw2 crashes and gives an error log, it’s as follows:

Crash <—*
Assertion: !m_handle || m_handle?IsIdle()
File: ..\..\..\Services\Asset\Asset.cpp(111)
App: Gw2-64.exe

For this specific black screen problem, you should be able to press F12 to bring up the logout menu, showing that the game is actually still functional. This problem can been caused by packet loss, including how your router handles traffic. You can rule out the router by directly connecting to the internet if possible, otherwise you’d need to experiment with the options it has available (disable firewall and UPnP).

As a potential simple solution however, start with: Gw2.exe -clientport 80

I thought I’m only one with this issue…

somehow… adding -clientport 80 into execution files won’t work for me… still got blackout even with the string as mentioned

I found the cause, it was my router. I confirmed this by using a different network unrelated to it. This issue with the router only affects gw2.
So if this is a case of packet loss or misinformation between gw2 and my router, how do u fix it?

thank you for the responses by the way, they’re really appreciated.

Odds are, “replace the router” is the most likely answer.

I’d take a look into firewalling, rate limiting, and quality of service or throttling configurations on the router, though. Any of those could be responsible for trying to do something smart that randomly happens to mess with GW2.
