Hello all, I am among the lucky ones that have found out what a great game this is. However, for whatever reason i experience some pretty bad screen tearing in game. When i turn on VSync, it smooths it out greatly. However WITH vsync on i then get artificial fps drops during big events and dungeon battles. As I love the meta events and love dungeons (I’ve been known to have been called “the dungeon kid”) this poses an issue.
My basic specs are:
core i7 2700k 3.something ghz
GeForce GTX 550ti
I know the vid card isn’t the baddest kitten one I can get but should do the job. W/o vsync i have seen frames creep to nearly 120 with smooth visuals during these high action moments. But the screen tearing suuuucks. I really hope there is SOMETHING i can do here (w/o spending buttloads of extra money as i have already spent around $750 to upgrade for this game as it is). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

you could tone down your graphics setting to compensate for smooth framerate.
starts with auto-detect and work from there.
also, an SSD helps at all front if you don’t have one already.
we all spent a fortune in order to enjoy best Guild Wars experience as possible. and key here is to shop smart.

make sure that v-sync is not disabled or set to "adaptive" at the nvidia control panel
disabled...well it’s globally disabled even if it’s turned on ingame
and adaptive mixes enabled and disabled up...if you running low FPS, it disabled itself to increase performance regardless of possible screen tearing
there’s also "adaptive (half framerate)"
self explanatory enough

Download/install MSI Afterburner → enable frame limiter.
(Don’t use GW2’s limiter since it’s using milisecond precision, 1000/60 = integer 16. 1000/16 = 62.5 FPS which will still give tearing. I’ve made that same mistake on a project before too.)
