Hey there,

Anyone else having problems with their screen brightness randomly changing when you aren’t doing anything? I was standing in Lion’s Arch earlier tonight and had it going from bright to dark as if I was going into a tunnel, and then back out to the sun, without having moved or changed any settings. When I would tab out to my desktop, there would be no visible change in the brightness there. I am hoping this is a setting thing, and not my computer bugging out, since it’s just happening in game. Any thoughts out there?

That’s the thing, light adaption isn’t checked on my settings, and it was pretty sudden changes.

Unless it was sudden changes, this sounds like Light Adaption doing its job.

What exactly is it supposed to do anyway? It just mostly seems to give me a very dark screen every time I exit out of the human home instance and a few other places.

roughly, Light Adaptation simulates the eye, adjusting to see dark better (by brightening it) or adjusting to not be so blinded in bright areas (by darkening it). Many games make use of it now. It shouldn’t change when standing still and not moving camera though unless something else is changing.
