Guild Wars 2

I’ve had GW2 for a number of months now and my younger brother has shown interest in having his own account. I would rather not have him use new character slots on my account, as he would have access to my bank etc. and he’s known for messing around with my stuff.

I have a physical copy of the game, which came with a serial code. My question is this:

Will he need to buy a new copy of the game, or is there any way to purchase a serial code?

There probably isn’t, but I thought it would be worth asking before he went and bought his own copy. Either way, he will be activating a new account on a separate computer and under a new email address. It would be nice if we could cut the cost of a second game, though.

He will need his own copy, with unique email account and unique serial.
Sharing is not an option anyways cause it’s against the rules.

the only way I know to purchase only a serial code (which is technically all you’re buying anyway, even with a boxed copy, seeing as you can download the client anywhere) only is to buy online https://buy.guildwars2.com/en/ not sure if it makes it cheaper or not though, you’ll have to check the prices yourself.

TECHNICALLY, all you ever buy is the serial/account key :p The program is available for free download.

Note, if you share a computer, have a smartphone, and worry about your brother messing with your stuff I’d enable mobile auth (via the Google auth app, instructions at https://account.guildwars2.com/account/security when you are logged in) to make sure he stays out.

You can buy from Guildwars2.com for $50, but currently Amazon seems to have it for $40 and Gamestop has a digital download version for $35. Basic game.

You can use multiple accounts off the same install if you share a computer (if that was your main concern).

Wherever you get your serial code, make sure it’s from a legitimate seller. Don’t use eBay or some other place where the code might not be legit since an account that uses an illegitimate code will likely be blocked.
